What it does
Safe DOCX works with document files as a local MCP server and as a CLI. It reads, searches, edits, compares, converts and saves DOCX while keeping the document structure. On saving it produces a clean copy and a copy with tracked changes. The npm package is called `@usejunior/safe-docx`, version 0.23.0, installed with `npm install --global @usejunior/safe-docx`. The project documentation includes comparisons with python-docx and with the built-in DOCX editing in Claude.

Limitations
The server edits DOCX files on your disk, so work on a copy of the document. Connecting to Claude Code with `claude mcp add safe-docx -- /absolute/path/to/safe-docx` requires an absolute path to the executable. The project is young, version 0.23.0.
How to disable. Remove the safe-docx entry from the client config (in Claude Code: claude mcp remove safe-docx) and run npm uninstall --global @usejunior/safe-docx.
