World Monitor
A global intelligence MCP server: news, geopolitical risk, markets and infrastructure exposed as agent tools
Medium risk
We rate an entry medium when the tool runs code, makes network calls or reads project files. Check what exactly it does before installing.
Why this level
- The server reaches the network and returns hosted-service data
- Data calls require passing an access key
Install
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/world-monitorDetects the agents on your machine, checks the risk and pins the version.
Other ways to install
Run in a terminal
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://worldmonitor.app/mcpOr add to the file .mcp.json, in the project
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key.
The button opens the agent and offers to add the server. If nothing happens, copy the config below.
Add to the file ~/.cursor/mcp.json, for all projects
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp": {
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key. For a single project, put the same block into .cursor/mcp.json.
The button opens the agent and offers to add the server. If nothing happens, copy the config below.
Run in a terminal
code --add-mcp '{"name":"mcp","type":"http","url":"https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"}'Or add to the file .vscode/mcp.json, in the project
{
"servers": {
"mcp": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the servers key.
Run in a terminal
codex mcp add mcp --url https://worldmonitor.app/mcpOr add to the file ~/.codex/config.toml, for all projects
[mcp_servers.mcp]
url = "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"If the file already exists, append the block to the end.
Run in a terminal
gemini mcp add -s user -t http mcp https://worldmonitor.app/mcpOr add to the file ~/.gemini/settings.json, for all projects
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp": {
"httpUrl": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key.
Add to the file ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json, for all projects
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp": {
"serverUrl": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key. Legacy Cascade keeps the MCP config in ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.
Formerly Windsurf.
Add to the file cline_mcp_settings.json, for all projects
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp": {
"type": "streamableHttp",
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"

}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key. Open the settings file in Cline: MCP Servers tab, Configure MCP Servers.
Add to the file .roo/mcp.json, in the project
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp": {
"type": "streamable-http",
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key.
A fork of Roo Code, same .roo folders.
Add to the file opencode.json, in the project
{
"mcp": {
"mcp": {
"type": "remote",
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcp key.
Add to the file ~/.config/zed/settings.json, for all projects
{
"context_servers": {
"mcp": {
"url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
}
}
}If the file already exists, add the server inside the context_servers key.
Add an MCP server at https://worldmonitor.app/mcp (Streamable HTTP). The tool list works without a key; for calls pass the X-WorldMonitor-Key header with a key from worldmonitor.app/pro. To probe from the terminal run npx worldmonitor tools.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
World Monitor gives an agent access to its global intelligence feed through a hosted MCP server over Streamable HTTP. The agent can pull news briefs, country instability scores, market quotes, aviation and energy signals and other situational-awareness data. The tool list is open without a key, while tool calls require an access key or OAuth. The same data is reachable through the worldmonitor CLI and client SDKs for Python, Ruby and Go.
Who it is for. For analysts, product teams and founders who need world situational data straight from an agent.
Good fit when
- You want the agent to compile a news brief or a country risk score
- You need market quotes and signals inside an agent workflow
- You want to plug a single geopolitical data source over MCP
Not a fit when
- You need a browser dashboard rather than an agent integration
- Data must stay fully local without calling a hosted service
Example request
Use World Monitor to compile a short country risk brief and current market signalsLimitations
Tool calls (tools/call) require an access key or OAuth, and the key comes from the paid worldmonitor.app/pro tier. Only the tool list is open without a key. Data comes from the hosted service, and some sources depend on external providers.
How to disable. Remove the worldmonitor entry from your client's MCP config; if the CLI is installed, uninstall the worldmonitor npm package.

README in short
The README presents World Monitor as a global intelligence dashboard with news feeds, maps, a country instability index and a finance radar. A dedicated section covers programmatic access: a hosted MCP server over Streamable HTTP, a REST API, the worldmonitor CLI and multi-language SDKs. The app can run locally from source and fully on Ollama with no keys. AGPL-3.0 licensed.
FAQ
Do I need a key to try it?
No, the tool list is open. A key is only needed for actual data calls.
How do I use it without an MCP client?
Through the worldmonitor CLI (npx worldmonitor) or the official Python, Ruby and Go SDKs.
