ya-wiki-mcp
MCP server for Yandex Wiki built on the ya-wiki-api package: 36 tools for pages, grids, attachments and a section-tree cache
Medium risk
We rate an entry medium when the tool runs code, makes network calls or reads project files. Check what exactly it does before installing.
Why this level
- Can create, edit and delete pages and attachments in a corporate Wiki
- Stores the OAuth token and page-tree cache locally on the user's disk
Install
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/ya-wiki-mcpDetects the agents on your machine, checks the risk and pins the version.

Add the server with claude mcp add ya-wiki -e YA_WIKI_TOKEN=<token> -e YA_WIKI_ORG_ID=<org id> -- uvx ya-wiki-mcp, get the token at oauth.yandex.ru with the wiki:write scope.
Other ways from the author
claude mcp add ya-wiki -e YA_WIKI_TOKEN=your-token -e YA_WIKI_ORG_ID=your-org-id -- uvx ya-wiki-mcpCommand from the README, uvx downloads the ya-wiki-mcp package from PyPI.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
The server wraps the ya-wiki-api Python client and exposes Yandex Wiki operations to an agent: reading and editing pages, working with dynamic tables (grids), uploading and downloading attachments, and searching subpages. It keeps a local page-tree cache at ~/.cache/ya-wiki-mcp/tree.yaml that auto-updates on page create, update, delete and clone, speeding up navigation. It also ships a converter from plain Markdown to YFM (tables, callouts, cut sections, underline) and a prompt-template manager callable from chat.
Who it is for. For teams that keep documentation or a knowledge base in Yandex Wiki and want an agent to create and edit pages.
Good fit when
- You need to quickly find, create or update a page in a corporate Wiki
- You need to work with dynamic tables (grids) on pages
- You need to convert plain Markdown to Yandex Flavored Markdown
Not a fit when
- You only need Yandex Tracker integration, not Wiki
- You cannot get an OAuth token or register an app at oauth.yandex.ru
Example request
Find the onboarding page in the team section and append a note about Wiki accessLimitations
Requires a Yandex OAuth token with wiki:read or wiki:write scope and an organization ID. The page-tree cache is local and can go stale if the Wiki structure changed outside this server, requiring a manual refresh_tree_cache. Community project, not affiliated with the vendor.
How to disable. Remove the ya-wiki server from your MCP client config and optionally delete the local cache at ~/.cache/ya-wiki-mcp/.

| Environment variables | |
|---|---|
| YA_WIKI_TOKEN required, secret | Yandex OAuth token with wiki:read or wiki:write scope |
| YA_WIKI_ORG_ID required | Organization ID in Yandex 360 or Yandex Cloud |
| YA_WIKI_ORG_TYPE | cloud (default) or business |
Security check
- Can create, edit and delete pages and attachments in a corporate Wiki
- Stores the OAuth token and page-tree cache locally on the user's disk
README in short
The README lists the server's 36 tools by group: pages, resources, dynamic tables, tree cache, the Markdown-to-YFM converter and the template manager. It shows uvx installation, a Claude Desktop config and an environment variable table with steps for getting an OAuth token. A separate section explains the local tree cache auto-sync and a Markdown-to-YFM mapping table. MIT license.
FAQ
How does the page-tree cache work?
The server keeps a section map at ~/.cache/ya-wiki-mcp/tree.yaml and updates it automatically on page create, update, delete and clone. refresh_tree_cache does a full rebuild.
What does the Markdown converter do?
convert_md_to_yfm turns tables, callouts, cut sections and underline from plain Markdown into the YFM format Yandex Wiki uses.
