Extended access
Why this level
- The servers create and change files from templates and, with the `--review-tool` flag, send code to an external LLM tool.
Install
- Works in
Manual install
npx @agiflowai/aicode-toolkit initCreates `templates/` and `.toolkit/settings.yaml`; requires Node.js 22.12 or newer. For a new folder use `init --name my-app --project-type monolith`.
Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
AI Code Toolkit moves repository conventions out of sprawling `CLAUDE.md` and `AGENTS.md` files into template configs: `scaffold.yaml`, `architect.yaml` and `RULES.yaml`. The agent requests only the rules that apply to the current task. Three MCP servers do the work. `scaffold-mcp` creates projects and features from templates, `architect-mcp` shows design patterns for a file before an edit and reviews changes against the rules, and `style-system` finds themes, CSS classes and components. A fourth server, `one-mcp`, saves context by exposing tools as they are needed. The kit is split into five task-based plugins: `aicode-bootstrap`, `aicode-develop`, `aicode-review`, `aicode-admin` and `aicode-design`. They install through a marketplace in Claude Code and Codex, and Gemini CLI has a local extension install.
Who it is for. Teams with a monorepo or a family of similar services where the agent has to follow one structure and style.
Good fit when
- A new Next.js service or TypeScript library is created from a ready template.
- The agent adds an API route and the file layout has to match the project's convention.
- Before a file edit, the agent is shown the patterns for that path in the repository.
- After changes, code is checked against `RULES.yaml` and violations are fixed.
- A frontend agent picks CSS classes and shared components that fit the project theme.
Not a fit when
- The project has no templates and no appetite for maintaining `scaffold.yaml`: without a `templates/` folder the scaffold server cannot start.
- A short `CLAUDE.md` is enough: a separate rule system only complicates the repository.
- A closed product needs a permissive tool license, while the toolkit ships under AGPL-3.0.
Example request
Which project templates are available? Create a Next.js app called dashboard, add a products route from the feature template and review the changes against the rules.Limitations
Node.js 22.12 or newer is required. Initialize the project before installing a plugin: `npx -y @agiflowai/aicode-toolkit@2.0.0 init --skip-mcp` creates `templates/` and `.toolkit/settings.yaml`, and the plugin itself brings no templates. Plugins group workflows and do not restrict the tool set: admin tools and nested LLM backends are switched on by workspace settings. The documentation asks you to acceptance-test Cursor and Grok, as well as local runs in Cowork, first. In the published `style-system` 0.2.0 some search filters are still ignored until a fix ships. The license is AGPL-3.0.
How to disable. Remove the plugin with `claude plugin uninstall aicode-develop@aicode-toolkit` or drop the servers from `.mcp.json`. The `templates/` and `.toolkit/` folders stay in the project; delete them by hand if unneeded.
FAQ
Which plugin should I install first?
`aicode-develop`: it adds features from templates, shows patterns before an edit and reviews changes. `aicode-bootstrap` creates projects and `aicode-review` covers review alone.
How do I check that the connection works?
Ask the agent which boilerplates are available. It should call `list-boilerplates`. If it does not, restart the agent.
Which agents does AI Code Toolkit work with?
The project table marks Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Codex CLI and GitHub Copilot as supported, with Windsurf planned.
What is inside a template?
`scaffold.yaml` describes project and feature scaffolds, `architect.yaml` sets patterns by file mask, `RULES.yaml` holds review rules, and the `boilerplate/` directory contains the files themselves.
Which templates ship with the toolkit?
`nextjs-drizzle` (Next.js 15, Tailwind 4, Drizzle, Storybook), `typescript-lib` and `typescript-mcp-package`.

README in short
The repository holds an initialization CLI and the `scaffold-mcp`, `architect-mcp`, `style-system` and `one-mcp` packages. Custom templates come from the admin prompts `/generate-boilerplate` and `/generate-feature-scaffold`, and patterns and rules are added with the `add-design-pattern` and `add-rule` tools.
