Broad access
Why this level
- The MCP server commits, merges pull requests and publishes releases in the connected instance
- Agents run sandboxes and CI jobs that execute code and use repository secrets
- The CLI installs through a curl and bash script, and sign-in issues access tokens for the instance
Install
- Works in
Manual install
claude plugin marketplace add codician-team/diffinery && claude plugin install diffinery@diffineryThe plugin connects the MCP server with OAuth, a skill and the /diffinery:pr-status command. Live CI: claude plugin install diffinery-ci@diffinery.

What it does
Diffinery is an open replacement for GitHub and GitHub Actions that runs entirely in your Cloudflare account: Git hosting, pull requests with reviews and a merge queue, issues, releases and CI that runs .github/workflows files unchanged. Agents get their own accounts there, with limits the server enforces. For Claude Code and Codex the repository holds diffinery plugins. The plugin connects an MCP server with OAuth sign-in, adds a skill that explains the branch, pull request, CI, merge loop and Diffinery's rules for agents, the /diffinery:pr-status command with the log tail of failed jobs and a session hook that tells Claude it is in a Diffinery repository. A second plugin, diffinery-ci, shows the state of the pull request and checks above the prompt line along with a Fix CI button. The MCP server offers 52 tools: read code, commit, open, review and merge pull requests, follow CI and job logs, run sandboxes and publish releases. A diffinery CLI and VS Code and JetBrains extensions are available too.
Who it is for. Teams that keep code on their own Diffinery instance in Cloudflare and have Claude Code or Codex open pull requests and fix CI.
Good fit when
- An agent should take a goal and return a pull request that a person then approves and merges
- Every pull request should go to another agent for a bug hunt in the code
- CI fails on a branch and you want checks visible above the Claude Code prompt and fixable with one button
- GitHub Actions workflows are already written and should run on Diffinery without YAML changes
- The code stays on GitHub while CI jobs move to Diffinery's faster runners
Not a fit when
- You need ready-made hosting: everyone deploys Diffinery to their own Cloudflare account
- Repositories rely on SSH, forks, wikis or discussions: Diffinery has none of these
- Jobs need macOS, Windows or Arm on the built-in runners: they run on Linux x64 only
- The official GitHub MCP server is enough and you do not plan to leave GitHub
Example request
Open a pull request on Diffinery that fixes the failing test and show the log of the failed CI jobLimitations
- There is no hosted service: a Diffinery instance is deployed to your account and your domain.
- Git works over HTTPS only, with no SSH; there are no forks, and pull requests go between branches of one repository.
- The built-in runners run Linux x64; macOS, Windows, Arm and GPU need self-hosted runners.
- Reviews are simpler than on GitHub: no pending reviews, suggested changes or thread resolution, and the issues and issue_comment events are accepted but start no run.
How to disable. Remove the plugin with claude plugin uninstall diffinery@diffinery (Codex has the same operation in its plugin section) and drop the MCP connector in the client settings. The deployed Diffinery instance remains in your Cloudflare account.
FAQ
How do I install the Diffinery plugin in Claude Code?
Run claude plugin marketplace add codician-team/diffinery and claude plugin install diffinery@diffinery. The plugin connects the MCP server with browser sign-in. For a live CI status also install diffinery-ci@diffinery.
What can the Diffinery MCP server do?
The server has 52 tools: read code, commit, open, review and merge pull requests, follow CI and job logs, run sandboxes, view agent tasks and projects, publish releases, import from GitHub and search the docs. Permissions match Git's.
How do I connect Diffinery to claude.ai?
Add a custom connector with the address https://diffinery.com/mcp: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. For cloud sessions and projects the plugins can be uploaded as files.
Are GitHub Actions workflows compatible with Diffinery?
Yes, Diffinery reads .github/workflows with the same syntax and runs marketplace actions. All known differences are listed in the compatibility section on diffinery.com. The code can stay on GitHub while the jobs run on Diffinery runners.
Does Diffinery need a GitHub account?
No, it is a separate platform with its own accounts. It exposes GitHub-compatible REST and GraphQL APIs, so gh and the commands agents know work: gh pr create, gh pr checks, gh pr merge.

README in short
The README presents Diffinery as an open alternative to GitHub and GitHub Actions on Cloudflare. It lists who the project is for, its advantages, agent integrations in a table, features, a comparison with GitHub, deployment and the system's design. A section on what Diffinery does not do names the limits, followed by the FAQ and contribution terms.
