What it does

The plugin from Notion Labs connects Claude Code to your Notion workspace. It has three parts: skills that teach Claude how to work with Notion content, commands for frequent operations, and a connection to Notion's hosted MCP server at https://mcp.notion.com/mcp. There are four skills. Knowledge Capture turns a conversation into a documentation page and files it in a wiki or database. Meeting Intelligence prepares meeting materials: it pulls context from Notion, adds Claude research and saves an internal pre-read and an external agenda. Research Documentation searches the workspace, merges findings from several pages and writes a report with citations. Spec to Implementation breaks a specification into tasks with acceptance criteria. Claude Code works through the tasks and marks their progress. Commands use the /Notion: prefix. /Notion:search and /Notion:find look up pages and databases, /Notion:create-page creates a page, /Notion:database-query queries a database, and /Notion:create-task and /Notion:create-database-row add rows. The /Notion:tasks: group works with tasks: setup prepares a board, build and plan take a task by page URL, and explain-diff formats an explanation of a code change as a Notion page. Sign-in to Notion uses OAuth.

Who it is for. For developers and product managers who work in Claude Code and keep specs, meetings and tasks in Notion.

Good fit when

  • A spec lives in Notion and you need an implementation plan with tasks and acceptance criteria
  • After a Claude Code session you want a decision or a change explanation written up as a wiki page
  • A meeting needs an internal pre-read and an external agenda with context from Notion
  • You want a report over the workspace that merges several pages with citations
  • Tasks on a Notion board should be picked up from the terminal by page URL

Not a fit when

  • You only need Notion API access through an integration token without skills and commands: a standalone Notion API MCP server fits that
  • The Notion workspace holds data you cannot expose to an agent as a whole
  • You use another agent: the plugin is built for the Claude Code plugin format
  • You need to work offline: the MCP server is hosted in the Notion cloud

Example request

Take the spec page from Notion at this link, break it into tasks with acceptance criteria and start with the first one

Limitations

The plugin runs in Claude Code and connects to a hosted MCP server, so it needs internet and a Notion account with OAuth sign-in. The Anthropic API is unavailable from Russia, and Claude Code depends on it. After installing, restart Claude Code so the MCP server starts correctly.

The repository has no separate license file; the MIT license is declared in the plugin manifest. The manifest version is 0.1.0 and the latest repository changes date from January 2026.

The plugin has the same rights as your Notion account: whatever you can reach, the agent can reach. For a trial use a separate workspace or restrict access on the Notion side.

How to disable. Run `/plugin` in Claude Code and disable or remove notion-workspace-plugin. The OAuth grant is revoked in the Notion settings under connections.

FAQ

How do I install the Notion plugin in Claude Code?

Add the marketplace with `/plugin marketplace add makenotion/claude-code-notion-plugin`, install the plugin with `/plugin install notion-workspace-plugin@notion-plugin-marketplace` and restart Claude Code. Sign-in to Notion uses OAuth.

Which commands does the plugin provide?

Search with `/Notion:search` and `/Notion:find`, creation with `/Notion:create-page`, `/Notion:create-task` and `/Notion:create-database-row`, and database queries with `/Notion:database-query`. For tasks there are `/Notion:tasks:setup`, `/Notion:tasks:build`, `/Notion:tasks:plan` and `/Notion:tasks:explain-diff`.

How is the plugin different from the Notion MCP server?

The server gives Claude tools to search, read and edit pages. The plugin connects the same hosted server and adds four skills and a set of commands that describe working scenarios, from a conversation summary to an implementation plan.

What does the explain-diff command do?

`/Notion:tasks:explain-diff` writes a Notion page that explains a code change. The page covers background, intuition, a code walkthrough, verification and possible alternatives. If you name no changes, it describes the latest batch of edits in the conversation.

Which Notion data will the agent see?

The agent acts with your rights after OAuth sign-in. Check what the agent is about to create or change and, if needed, set up a separate workspace for the work.
