What it does
The plugin adds MAX as an OpenClaw channel alongside Telegram: receiving and sending markdown text, attachments (photos, videos, files, stickers, contacts, locations, including inline base64 for generated images), long captions split automatically into follow-up messages, several inline-button types, reply, forward with attribution, edit, delete, and admin-only pin/unpin in groups, response streaming with a typing indicator, long polling and webhook with secret validation, multiple accounts, and access policies for direct messages and groups. Since version 0.6.3 the plugin can register the bot's command menu via PATCH /me/commands, either automatically or manually with Russian descriptions. Recognizing voice messages from the mobile MAX app requires a webhook rather than long polling, otherwise the audio arrives empty.
Who it is for. For people already using OpenClaw who want to give their assistant a MAX channel just like Telegram.
Good fit when
- You have a verified MAX bot via business.max.ru and want to connect it to OpenClaw
- You need voice messages from users: then a webhook with a recognition engine must be configured
- You need several MAX bots at once, for example a work one and a personal one
Not a fit when
- You do not use OpenClaw: the plugin only works inside that framework
- You have no legal entity or sole-proprietor status: creating a MAX bot via business.max.ru requires organization verification
- You need reactions or polls: the MAX Bot API does not support them, a platform limitation

Requires OpenClaw 2026.9.3 or newer and Node.js 24.16+ or 26.1+. Creating a bot requires a verified legal entity or sole proprietor and up to 48 hours of MAX moderation. Long polling does not deliver native voice messages from the mobile app; a webhook with a configured audio recognition engine is required for those. The MAX Bot API does not support reactions or polls.
How to disable. Set channels.max.enabled to false in ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json, or remove the plugin with openclaw plugins remove openclaw-max-plus and restart the gateway.

FAQ
Why aren't voice messages recognized?
With long polling, native voice messages from mobile MAX arrive without audio; you need a webhook with a public HTTPS address and a recognition engine like Whisper.
Can I connect several MAX bots?
Yes, via the accounts section in the channel config, each account can have its own access policy.
