What it does
1688 Shopkeeper is a skill from the Chinese wholesale platform 1688 that turns an agent into a seller's assistant: it searches supplier products, shows cards and lists the chosen items in stores on Douyin, Pinduoduo, Xiaohongshu and Taobao. All the work is done by `cli.py`, which calls the `ainext.1688.com` API, signing requests with an access key (AK) from the 1688 AI app. The `search` command takes a request as an ordinary phrase and returns up to 20 products with price, sales over 30 days, positive review share, repeat purchases and listing counts. `prod_detail` shows the title, category, SKU, attributes and seller by IDs. `shops` lists the linked stores and `publish` lists chosen products in a store, up to 20 at a time. The agent first runs a trial pass with `--dry-run`, and when the store and products are unambiguous it publishes straight away without a second question to the user. The `opportunities`, `trend` and `shop_daily` commands read a list of hot niches, category dynamics with price distribution and a daily store report with product selection hints. The references folder holds a guide for each command and answers to seller questions about pricing, shipping, returns, new stores and content checks.
Who it is for. For sellers who buy from 1688 suppliers and trade on Douyin, Pinduoduo, Xiaohongshu or Taobao, and for those about to open a store there.
Good fit when

Not a fit when
- You have no access to the 1688 AI app, where the AK key comes from: the commands do not work without it
- Your store is outside Douyin, Pinduoduo, Xiaohongshu and Taobao: the skill knows no other channels
- Python 3 is not installed: all of the skill's code runs through it
- You need to move a product from 1688 to Ozon: the catalog has a skill for transfer to Ozon

The interface, guides and platform answers are in Chinese, and the skill is built for OpenClaw: its header names that environment and the `ALI_1688_AK` variable. Work in other agents is not described in the repository.
The key comes from the 1688 AI app: you tap a button on the home screen, open the page and copy the key. Stores for listing are linked in the same app, and an expired authorization is renewed there too.
One listing batch holds at most 20 products, and search returns up to 20 results. The author writes that product selection and listing are free for a limited time, with the price set by 1688 rules.
The skill saves search, detail and listing results in the `1688-skill-data` folder of the OpenClaw working directory.
How to disable. Delete the 1688-shopkeeper folder from the OpenClaw skills directory. The key stays in `openclaw.json` in this skill's entry: remove it there, or revoke the key in the 1688 AI app. Saved data sits in the `1688-skill-data` folder of the working directory.
FAQ
What is AK and where do I get it?
AK (Access Key) is the access key to the 1688 platform. The 1688 AI app issues it on a page that a button on the home screen opens. After that the user tells the agent a phrase like "my AK is such-and-such", or you run `python3 cli.py configure YOUR_AK`.
What changes in OpenClaw after the key is set?
The `configure` command writes the key to `openclaw.json`, into the skill's entry, and at run time the skill takes it from the `ALI_1688_AK` variable or from that file if the OpenClaw gateway was not restarted.
Which listing channels does the skill support?
Douyin, Pinduoduo, Xiaohongshu and Taobao. Inside the API Taobao is called thyny, and the skill maps the Chinese channel names in platform answers to English codes.
How does product listing work?
The agent takes the store code from `shops` and runs `publish` first with `--dry-run`, then without it. You pass either the selection ID `--data-id` for the whole search at once, or `--item-ids` with the products you want, but not both together.
What if a reply comes back with rate limiting?
The skill advises waiting a minute or two and retrying. On an empty result for a long or narrow trend query it suggests a broader word or splitting the query.
What seller questions do the guides cover?
Platform choice, product selection risks, the listing template with price and shipping, dispatch times, returns and return shipping insurance, launching a new store, and content checks such as white-background images and titles.
