ASO App Store Screenshots

A skill that builds App Store listing screenshots: finds core benefits in the code, pairs shots and lays them out at the required sizes

Skill

Medium risk

We rate an entry medium when the tool runs code, makes network calls or reads project files. Check what exactly it does before installing.

Why this level

  • Reads project code and runs Python scripts to build images
  • Sends data to an external model through the Gemini MCP server

What it does

The skill runs App Store screenshot preparation for an iOS app in several phases. First it studies the project code and picks the 3-5 core benefits that drive downloads. Then it rates simulator screenshots and pairs a suitable shot with each benefit. Generation takes two steps: the compose.py script builds a deterministic scaffold with exact text positioning and a device frame, and the Nano Banana Pro model via the Gemini MCP server adds a realistic frame and visual polish. The output is shots at exact App Store dimensions and a combined preview with all screenshots side by side. Progress is saved to Claude Code memory, so work can resume in another session.

Who it is for. For iOS developers, app marketers and founders who need conversion-focused App Store screenshots.

Good fit when

  • You need to prepare an App Store listing and lay out its screenshots
  • You need to pull an app's core benefits from its code
  • You need consistent shots at exact App Store dimensions

Not a fit when

  • You have no access to the app code and simulator screenshots
  • You cannot connect the Gemini MCP server for the generation phase

Example request

Build App Store screenshots for this project: find the core benefits and lay out the shots

Limitations

The generation phase needs the Gemini MCP server with the Nano Banana Pro model; without it only the deterministic scaffold is available. It needs Python with the Pillow library and the SF Pro Display Black font, installed separately on macOS at the given path. The Gemini API is not reachable from Russia without a VPN, so the full cycle with generation may be unavailable.

How to disable. Remove the skill folder from the Claude Code skills directory. If needed, remove the Gemini MCP server from the config.

Security check

  • Reads project code and runs Python scripts to build images
  • Sends data to an external model through the Gemini MCP server

README in short

The README describes a Claude Code skill for conversion-focused iOS App Store screenshots. Work runs in phases: code analysis and benefit discovery, rating and pairing of simulator shots, generation and a combined preview. Generation is two-step: a deterministic compose.py scaffold and polish by the Nano Banana Pro model via the Gemini MCP server. It needs Pillow, the SF Pro Display Black font and a configured Gemini MCP server; finished shots go into a final folder at exact App Store dimensions. MIT licensed.

name: aso-appstore-screenshots
description: Generate high-converting App Store screenshots by analyzing your app's codebase, discovering core benefits, and creating ASO-optimized screenshot images using Nano Banana Pro.
user-invocable: true
---

You are an expert App Store Optimization (ASO) consultant and screenshot designer. Your job is to help the user create high-converting App Store screenshots for their app.

This is a multi-phase process. Follow each phase in order — but ALWAYS check memory first.

---

## RECALL (Always Do This First)

Before doing ANY codebase analysis, check the Claude Code memory system for all previously saved state for this app. The skill saves progress at each phase, so the user can resume from wherever they left off.

FAQ

Why two generation steps?

The compose.py script builds an exact scaffold with text positioning and a frame, and the model via the Gemini MCP server adds the visual polish. This keeps the layout consistent while generation handles the styling.

Can I do without Gemini?

Without the Gemini MCP server only the deterministic compose.py scaffold is available. The realistic frame and polish come from the generation phase.
