What it does
Goldie produces the assets for a mobile app's App Store and Google Play page: framed device screenshots with a background and headlines, and a preview video. It works as a `goldie` CLI together with an agent skill. The agent runs from the app repository, asks which stores to prepare for (a single-platform repo it decides itself), finds an iOS simulator Release build or an Android APK, launches the app on a simulator or emulator and inspects the screens through argent tools. From that inspection the agent picks four or five screens that sell features and a preview story of three or four segments. Scenarios are written as argent flows in `.argent/flows`, settings live in `goldie/goldie.config.ts`, and the agent writes the headlines and subheads itself. `goldie doctor` checks tools, simulators and flows, `goldie capture` replays the flows and takes frames, `frame` puts them in a device bezel, and `goldie all` goes the whole way through to the check against the stores' upload rules. The preview video, 15 to 30 seconds long, is assembled from the raw recordings with no frame or captions, as Apple requires. For Google Play the clip is rendered vertically: publishing is a YouTube link, and the user posts it. `goldie studio` opens a local studio at `localhost:4321` with the finished store page: devices, backgrounds, templates, bezel, fonts and copy can be changed, and the choices are saved to `goldie.design.json`.
Who it is for. For mobile developers and small teams shipping an app on SwiftUI, UIKit, Jetpack Compose, Flutter, React Native or Kotlin Multiplatform who want store assets without manual capture.
Good fit when
- The app is ready for release and you need screenshots of the right sizes and a preview video for the App Store
- You need Google Play frames from an emulator with the Pixel 10 Pro bezel
- After a release you need to refresh the screenshots by replaying the saved flows
- The store page has to ship in several languages with a separate capture for each (the `localizedCaptures` option)
- Headlines, background or frame order should change with an ordinary request to the agent, not by hand in an editor
Not a fit when
- You need App Store screenshots without a Mac: iOS needs macOS and Xcode simulators, and on Linux and Windows only Google Play with an Android emulator works
- You only have a Debug build: it paints debug banners into frames, and the author recommends Release
- Node.js 20 or newer and ffmpeg on `PATH` are missing: the tool will not start without them
- You want a preview with captions and a device frame inside the video: Apple accepts only a plain screen recording, so the video is assembled without styling
Example request
Create App Store screenshots using goldie, four screens with short headlinesLimitations
Node.js 20 or newer and ffmpeg are required. The App Store needs macOS and iOS simulators from Xcode, Google Play needs an Android emulator with a Pixel 10 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro profile (a 1280 × 2856 screen). On Linux and Windows keep only `pixel-10-pro` in `devices`, otherwise `goldie doctor` warns about the unavailable device. Sizes in pixels: iPhone screenshots 1320 × 2868, iPhone preview 886 × 1920 H.264, iPad 13-inch screenshots 2064 × 2752, iPad preview 1200 × 1600, Google Play screenshots 1080 × 1920.
Flows break when the app changes: the advice is to have the agent repair them or re-record. The `localizedCaptures` option works only for iOS devices. On Android emulators the capture stays shared. Android frames use a bundled bezel. The `frame` field applies to the iPhone. GitHub metadata shows no license, but the LICENSE file in the repository carries the MIT text. The project is sponsored by Software Mansion.
How to disable. Remove the skill from your agent's skill manager or with `/plugin` in Claude Code, then uninstall the package with `npm uninstall -g goldie`. Delete the `goldie/` folder with settings and finished assets in the app repository by hand.
FAQ
How does goldie differ from argent?
Argent replays scenarios on an iOS simulator or an Android emulator and gives the agent screen inspection tools. Goldie takes those recordings, styles them in a device bezel with a background and headlines, joins the preview video and checks the result against the stores' upload rules. The repository's `.mcp.json` connects the argent server via `npx -y @swmansion/argent@0 mcp`.
Which design templates are there?
Ready ones `editorial`, `showcase`, `magazine`, `storyboard` and `dynamic`, or your own sequence from the layouts `classic`, `copy-below`, `hero`, `offset`, `tilt`, `tilt-right`, `duo`, `duo-tilt`, `panorama`, `panorama-duo` and `minimal`. Bezels: three iPhone 17 Pro colors, two iPad Pro 13 variants, Pixel 10 Pro or your own bezel image.
Are non-Latin fonts supported?
Merriweather, DM Mono, Lato, DM Sans and Montserrat are bundled, plus Noto Sans SC for Chinese and Noto Sans Arabic for Arabic: the last two are appended to every stack as fallbacks. Other scripts need your own font through `theme.fontFiles`, otherwise the text comes out as boxes.
Where do the results go?
To `out/screenshots/<device>/<locale>/` and `out/previews/<device>/<locale>/` beside the config file, that is the `goldie/out/` folder the agent asks you to add to `.gitignore`. Commit the config file and the flows.
Can it run without an agent?
Yes. Copy `goldie.config.example.ts` to `goldie.config.ts`, point scenes at argent flows in `.argent/flows` and run `goldie doctor`, `goldie all` and `goldie studio` by hand. The package installs with `npm i -g goldie`.

README in short
The description first explains the task and framework independence, then gives installation of the CLI and skill, a sample request to the agent and the manual command order. Separate sections cover file sizes and preview rules, Google Play, design settings (bezels, templates, fonts, decorations) and two remarks: a Release build is needed, and flows must be repaired after app changes. The repository has an example config, fonts and device bezels with attribution and a file with the skill versions.

--- name: goldie description: >- Create App Store and Play Store screenshots and preview videos for an iOS or Android app. goldie explores the app on a simulator or emulator, writes argent flows, renders framed screenshots and a preview video, and opens a local studio with the finished store page. Use this skill when the user asks for store screenshots, store assets, a preview video, or mentions goldie. Also use it to change assets goldie made before: new headlines, a different background or bezel, or a new screenshot order. Run it from the mobile app's repo. --- # goldie: App Store assets for the app in this repo goldie replays argent YAML flows on an iOS simulator, captures raw screenshots and recordings, and turns them into upload-ready assets: screenshots get a device bezel, a background, and marketing copy; the preview video is the raw recordings joined as-is, since Apple requires app previews to be a plain screen recording with no framing or captions. A React studio shows the result as the real store page. Your job is everything goldie cannot do alone: pick the screens worth marketing, author the flows that reach them, write the copy, and drive the pipeline. The end state: 4 or 5 framed screenshots and the raw clips for a preview video, visible in the studio at http://localhost:4321, with the video rendering in the background. ## Before anything: check for an existing goldie setup goldie keeps the whole outcome in files the user can re-prompt against. If the app repo already has a config, this is a follow-up, so read it first and skip to "Iterating on an existing setup" below rather than starting over: ```bash ls goldie/goldie.config.ts .argent/flows/ 2>/dev/null; echo "GOLDIE_CONFIG=$GOLDIE_CONFIG" ``` Read `goldie/goldie.config.ts` in full and the flows it names. Together they are the source of truth for every visible choice: which screens, in what order, the headlines and subheads, the background and copy colors, the bezel, the store listing, and the preview story. Nothing lives only in your head or in the studio, so a user who says "make it darker" or "swap the search screenshot for settings" is asking for an edit to those files. ## Step 0: Settle which stores to target Which stores are in play follows from what the repo can build, so look before asking. Check for an iOS target (an `.xcodeproj` / `.xcworkspace`, a Swift package with an app target, an `ios/` directory) and an Android target (a
