Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.
- On request the agent edits, appends to and deletes knowledge-base pages, and the access token is stored on the computer.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
The `cosense` skill teaches an agent to work with Cosense pages: read, search and answer with cited sources. Cosense links pages with bracket links such as `[Title]`, so the instructions advise walking the list of related pages instead of searching by keywords only. The `cosense` command-line utility runs the actual requests. If a page being read disappears, the agent uses `browsePageChanges` to check whether a collaborator renamed it. Page edits, comments, deletion and file uploads with embedding happen only on explicit request. Separate instruction files cover reading, editing, login, file upload and term pages. The repository comes from Helpfeel, the company behind Cosense.
Who it is for. Teams that keep a knowledge base in Cosense and want an agent to answer questions from it or append to pages without leaving the terminal.
Good fit when
- A Cosense project wiki needs a search for what was decided on a task, with page links.
- An agent receives a Cosense page address and is asked to summarize it.
- A comment or meeting notes must be appended to a page on direct request.
- A report page needs an image uploaded and embedded in the text.
Not a fit when
- The knowledge base lives in another service such as Notion or Confluence.
- You need background page editing with no human command, while the skill writes only on explicit request.
- There is no terminal access to enter the token through `cosense login`.
Example request
Search the Cosense project for pages about release 2.0, read the linked ones and summarize the decisions with page links.Limitations
The README and instructions are in Japanese. Both the skill and the `@helpfeel/cosense-cli` command-line utility are required, otherwise the skill runs nothing. Login is done by a person: the agent never runs `cosense login`, and the token is entered in a separate terminal. In Codex the skill does not auto-update, so refresh it with `npx skills update cosense`. The repository states no license, so ask the authors about usage terms.
How to disable. In Claude Code disable the plugin through `/plugins`, in Codex remove the `cosense` skill. The utility is removed with `npm uninstall -g @helpfeel/cosense-cli`.
FAQ
How do I install it for Claude Code?
Run `/plugin marketplace add helpfeel/cosense-cli`, then `/plugin install cosense-cli@cosense-cli`. Enable auto-update in `/plugins`.
And for Codex?
In a terminal, not inside Codex: `npx skills install helpfeel/cosense-cli --agent codex`. Updates are manual with `npx skills update cosense`.
Is the separate utility required?
Yes. `npm install -g @helpfeel/cosense-cli` installs the `cosense` command the skill depends on. Check with `cosense --help`.
How do I log in to Cosense?
A person runs `cosense login` in a separate terminal, issues a token as instructed and pastes it. The agent then retries the failed operation.
When does the agent edit pages?
Only when the user explicitly asks to write, edit or comment. Reading and summarizing tasks never use the editing instructions.
