How we review

Minimal accessThe tool runs nothing and makes no network calls.

What it does

GTM Strategist Skills turns a go-to-market methodology into twelve skills for Claude Code, Claude Cowork and Claude.ai. They contain 100 tasks in total, and the output of each stage feeds the next: competitor analysis feeds positioning, positioning feeds the pitch deck, the pitch deck feeds the sales process. You describe the product once and the agent takes the rest from the context file. The phases go in order. GTM Foundations builds the OPE canvas, SWOT, a value proposition and a 90-day plan. Collecting Intelligence picks segments and analyzes competitors. Validating Customers tests assumptions and refines the customer profile. Building Product leads to an MVP and metrics. Setting Pricing works out price and business model. Crafting Positioning writes positioning and messaging. Preparing Launch Assets prepares a website brief, a demo script, a media kit and a pitch. Building Communication Engine chooses channels and the funnel. Executing Launch prepares launch emails and events. Building GTM System sets up CRM and growth loops. Running Marketing covers content, email, paid and community. Executing Sales produces a sales deck, case studies and outbound. The first step is the `my-gtm-context.md` file: fill it in by hand or tell the agent about the product and it runs an interview and saves the context. In Claude Code outputs are saved as files, in Claude.ai they stay in the chat.

Who it is for. Founders and marketers at product companies who are preparing a launch and want to walk the strategy step by step instead of getting scattered answers.

Good fit when

  • The product is nearly ready, there is no go-to-market strategy and you need a 90-day plan
  • You must pick the first segment and test customer hypotheses before launch
  • You need positioning and messaging that then flow into the pitch and the website
  • Launch preparation: a website brief, a demo script, a press release and an email
  • Build the funnel, set up CRM and a rhythm of growth sprints after launch

Not a fit when

  • You need a narrow one-off text such as a short post: the phased method is overkill
  • The product is internal tooling with no market launch
  • You need live market and competitor data: the skills structure the work and you have to bring the sources
  • You expect a finished result without your answers: each phase is built on an interview with you

Example request

I want to set up my GTM context. My product is an accounting tool for small studios; I will tell you about it and then we will do positioning

Limitations

  • The skill texts and README are in English. The agent can answer in the language of your request, but the artifact templates stay in English.
  • The skills do not search the internet themselves: you bring or verify assumptions and figures by hand.
  • In Claude.ai you have to upload `CLAUDE.md`, `my-gtm-context.md` and the needed `SKILL.md` files into a project, and outputs are not saved as files automatically.
  • The hidden `.claude` folder on macOS and Windows needs a separate setting to be shown, and without it the skills are hard to find by hand.

How to disable. Delete the `gtm-strategist-skills` folder or the directories from `.claude/skills/` that you copied into a project. Files the agent saved in `outputs/` and `my-gtm-context.md` sit separately and can be deleted by hand. In Claude.ai remove the uploaded files from the project knowledge.

FAQ

How do I run GTM Strategist Skills in Claude Code?

Run `git clone https://github.com/GTM-Strategist/gtm-strategist-skills.git`, enter the folder and start `claude`. The skills attach by themselves; just begin a conversation and tell it about your product.

Do I have to go through all 12 phases in order?

In order is recommended because the phases feed each other. You can still jump to the one you need: for example write that you need a pricing strategy and the matching skill activates. It asks for what is missing.

What is my-gtm-context.md?

A file describing the product, the market and the stage. You can fill it in by hand or let the agent do it through an interview. The skills read it at the start of every phase and stop if the product description and target market are empty.

Can I use the skills without a terminal?

Yes. In Claude Cowork select the downloaded folder as the working directory; in Claude.ai create a project and upload `CLAUDE.md`, `my-gtm-context.md` and the needed `SKILL.md` files to its knowledge. In Claude.ai you copy results out of the chat.

How many tasks do the skills cover?

One hundred tasks across twelve phases: from the OPE canvas and SWOT to outbound, partnerships and key account work.

README in short

The README explains why separate AI prompts do not replace a connected process and lists the twelve skills with their outputs and task counts. A quick start follows: downloading, three ways to run (Claude Code, Cowork, Claude.ai), filling in the product context and getting started.

# GTM Foundations — Strategy & Setup (Phase 1 of 12)

You are executing Phase 1 of the GTM Strategist methodology. This phase builds the strategic foundation that every later phase depends on. Without this, everything else is guesswork.

## Before You Start

1. Read `my-gtm-context.md`. If the user's product description (Section 1) or target market (Section 2) are empty, stop and ask the user to fill those in first. You need at minimum: what the product is, who it's for, and what stage they're at.
2. Check `outputs/` for any existing Phase 1 deliverables. If some tasks are already done, acknowledge them and pick up where the user left off.
3. Work through tasks one at a time. Present each deliverable, get feedback, then move to the next. Do not dump all 11 at once.

## Task 1: One-Page Endgame Canvas (OPE)

**What you'll create:** A filled-in One-Page Endgame canvas that clarifies the user's personal motivation, vision, and definition of success.
**Time estimate:** 1-3 hours
**Save to:** `outputs/01-one-page-endgame.md`

### Instructions

Read `my-gtm-context.md` sections 1 (Product), 8 (Team), and 9 (Goals).

The OPE canvas comes from Wes Bush's product-led growth methodology. It forces founders to answer: "What does winning actually look like for ME?" before building any GTM strategy. Too many founders build toward someone else's definition of success.

Guide the user through these OPE sections:

1. **Your Endgame** — What is the end goal? 1M ARR? Helping 10K customers? Acquisition? Lifestyle business? Be specific with numbers and timeframes.
2. **Why This Matters to You** — Personal motivation behind the business. What changes in your life when you hit the endgame?
3. **Your Strengths** — What unfair advantages do you bring? Domain expertise, network, technical skills, existing audience?
4. **Your Constraints** — Time, money, team, geography. Be honest — the GTM plan must work within these limits.
5. **Success Milestones** — Break the endgame into 3-4 concrete checkpoints. What does progress look like at 30/90/180/365 days?
6. **What You're Willing to Do** — Sales calls? Content creation? Cold outreach? Public speaking? Not everything works for everyone. Name what you'll actually do.
7. **What You're NOT Willing to Do** — Equally important. If you hate cold calling, don't build a GTM plan that depends on it.

Ask the user direct questions for each section. Do not fill in answers based on assumptions. Use their `my-gtm-context.md` data as a starting point, but push for specifics.

Format the output as a clean one-page canvas with all 7 sections. Add a "Key Insight" at the bottom summarizing the one thing that should shape every GTM decision going forward.
