What it does
Human Speak edits, audits and drafts writing so that it sounds direct and specific. The skill catches canned insight framing, fake reveals, dramatic fragments, vague authority, inflated buzzwords, reaction narration after facts and recap endings. It also protects what ordinary editing prompts erase: vocabulary, cadence, bluntness, humour, uncertainty and useful imperfections. There are three modes: edit a draft, audit without rewriting with quoted evidence and short fixes, and draft new copy from notes. Reference files with a ranked list of 20 patterns sit in `references/`.
Who it is for. Authors of English posts, articles and newsletters who edit drafts with an agent and do not want to lose their own voice.
Good fit when
- An AI-written draft reads like a template but the author tone must stay.
- Before publishing you need an audit that quotes problem spots without rewriting.
- A LinkedIn post has to be drafted from notes in the author voice.
- A text overuses "not X, but Y" framings and recap endings that should be cleaned out.
Not a fit when
- You want to pass AI text off as human-written: the skill does not guess authorship and does not target detectors.
- The text is in Russian: the patterns are tuned for English.
- You need spell checking or translation.
Example request
/human-speak audit this without rewriting: paste a draft post and get a list of patterns with quotes.Limitations
The patterns are collected for English prose and fit Russian text less well. The skill is not applied to every reply automatically: it is invoked for an edit, audit or draft. Invocation differs by install route: the plugin is namespaced as `/human-speak:human-speak` while the standalone skill is `/human-speak`. GitHub updates do not reach your machine on their own, so reinstall to update. Last commit October 2026.
How to disable. Delete the skill from the agent skills directory or disable the plugin through Claude Code commands.
FAQ
How do I call the skill in Codex?
After installation use `$human-speak`. Codex takes the `$skill-name` syntax rather than slash commands.
What does audit mode return?
A list of found patterns with quotes from the text and a short fix for each. The skill does not decide who wrote the text.
How do I get the clean copy only?
Ask for "clean copy only". By default the skill returns the edit plus a short explanation of changes.
How do I update an installed skill?
Reinstall the same way or ask the agent to update the skill from the repository and compare `SKILL.md` and references.
Which patterns does the skill look for first?
A ranked list of 20 patterns is in `skills/human-speak/references/top-20.md`. The full catalogue with examples is in `patterns.md`.

README in short
The skill carries its own rules and a final check, does not depend on the author's private files and does not run as an automatic filter.
