What it does
legal-skills collects skills for practicing lawyers who write documents and run cases. All of them are the author own work and written in Chinese. The skills are grouped by task. Material collection is covered by `wechat-article-fetch` (downloads WeChat articles through Playwright and saves Markdown), `legal-ocr` (PDF, images, Office documents and links into Markdown) and `local-asr` (local speech recognition with timestamps and speakers). For professional work there are `judgment-analysis` for court judgments, `legal-case-analysis`, `contract-copilot`, `patent-download` and `patent-analysis`, `trademark-assistant`, `court-sms` for messages from court, `legal-proposal-generator` and `legal-qa-extractor`. Helpers convert documents between formats: `md2word`, `pdf-processor`, `img2pdf`, `invoice-organizer`. The repository also holds skills for developing skills themselves: `release-workflow`, `git-workflow`, `skill-lint`. Eight expert suites group the skills by scenario, for example materials and evidence, litigation, contracts for small business, intellectual property, and download as an archive.
Who it is for. Lawyers and legal assistants in China who work in Claude Code or Codex and want to automate the review of court materials, contracts and patents.
Good fit when
- A scan of court materials has to become text with clean structure and be saved as Markdown
- A recording of a conversation or hearing must be transcribed locally with timestamps and speaker labels
- A court judgment is broken into facts and arguments of the parties to prepare a position
- A contract is being prepared for review and a small company consultation needs a first triage of questions
- A patent is downloaded and analyzed, or a trademark application is prepared
Not a fit when
- The work takes place in another legal system: the skills are oriented to practice in China
- The user does not read Chinese, since descriptions and output documents are written in that language
- Materials contain client information that must not go to a cloud model
Example request
Run the PDF scan of the ruling through legal-ocr and save the text as Markdown keeping the document structureLimitations
The skills target Chinese law, and for a lawyer outside China mostly the utilities will be useful: OCR, transcription and document conversion. The collection ships under two licenses: some skills are MIT, some, such as `judgment-analysis` and `patent-analysis`, are CC-BY-NC, so commercial use needs the author consent. For installation the author advises sending the repository link to the agent or downloading the archive of the needed skill from releases. A lawyer verifies the agent conclusions on cases and contracts. Version numbers in the README table can run ahead of the published archive.
How to disable. Delete the folders of unneeded skills from the agent skills directory, for example `~/.claude/skills/`.
FAQ
How do I install a skill without Git?
Open the latest release page, download the archive of the needed skill, for example `contract-copilot-1.6.3.zip`, unpack it and copy the folder into `~/.claude/skills/`. Versions in the archive can lag behind the source.
What is in the expert suites?
Eight archives group skills by scenario: materials and evidence, litigation and documents, contracts and small business, intellectual property, legal research, skill evaluation, development and release. A suite only groups skills and does not tie them into one process.
Does speech recognition work without the cloud?
Yes, `local-asr` recognizes speech locally. Apple Silicon defaults to MOSS-MLX and the FunASR pipeline is kept. The output is Markdown with timestamps and speakers, and the owner voice can be registered for automatic labeling.
Can the skills be used in commercial work?
Some can: skills under the MIT license are free to use, commercially too. Skills marked CC-BY-NC are allowed for non-commercial use only, and for commercial use the author asks to be contacted.
Are there skills for developing skills of your own?
Yes: `skill-lint`, `release-workflow`, `git-workflow`, `skill-publish-sync` and `self-evolve`. They check skill structure, manage versions, prepare a release and sync publishing.
