What it does
The repository bundles seven independent skills by mathbullet in the Claude Code marketplace format: each lives at plugins/<name>/skills/<name>/SKILL.md with its own plugin.json. npx skills add mathbullet/skills installs all of them at once, and the --skill flag limits the install to one, for example npx skills add mathbullet/skills --skill html for the HTML-explainer skill. The survey skill gathers information on a topic from papers, press articles, social-media posts and industry signals and returns a structured Markdown report with a source list. The html skill turns concepts, mechanisms and research findings into a visual HTML explainer document instead of plain text. documenting-with-sources sets shared conventions for Markdown documents that cite external sources, such as surveys and paper breakdowns, and writing-quotation keeps consistent citation rules for articles, pages and prompt templates inside such a document. The remaining three skills are Japanese-language by design, per the README: ja-text-communication sets the routine to follow before any reply to a user in Japanese, ja-explainer defines the canon for summarizing papers and notes in Japanese, and grilling-viz turns multiple-choice and free-text question sets into a copyable HTML page. In Claude Code the same skills also install through the plugin marketplace with /plugin marketplace add mathbullet/skills and /plugin install <name>@skills.
Who it is for. Developers and analysts who need standalone skills for gathering sources on a topic and presenting the result as an HTML document instead of plain text.
Good fit when
- A structured report on a topic needs real sources from papers, press and social media, not a summary from the model's memory
- The research result is better shown to a client as a visual HTML document instead of a wall of chat text
- Markdown documents in the project cite articles and pages and need consistent link formatting rules
- A multiple-choice survey with comments needs turning quickly into a copyable HTML page for distribution
- The team works with Japanese-language material and needs a ready canon for Japanese summaries and replies
Not a fit when
- Only one general research skill is needed, without separate HTML formatting, citation and Japanese-language rules
- The project is neither English nor Japanese, and ja-explainer and ja-text-communication are written specifically for Japanese
- A ready data-collection pipeline is needed: survey compiles already-found sources into a report, it does not scrape sites itself
- No Skills-capable tool such as Claude Code is installed, and copying SKILL.md files by hand into a project is inconvenient
Example request
Install the html skill from mathbullet/skills and format a breakdown of a quantum computing paper as a visual HTML documentLimitations
- The README is written in Japanese with a separate English version at README-en.md, and the grilling-viz and ja-explainer skills are built for Japanese-language use.
- The seven skills are one author's personal set, not a team-curated collection: the README is signed with the author's name and a link to their YouTube channel.
- survey and html compile and format what is already reachable by the model and the agent's own search tools; the repository documents no paid article database or social-media API access of its own.
- The skill list in the README is auto-generated by scripts/update-readme.mjs, so skill names and descriptions should be checked against the current README rather than a third-party summary.
How to disable. In Claude Code run /plugin uninstall <name>@skills for one skill, or delete the .claude/skills/<name> folder if it was installed without the marketplace. The whole set is removed by deleting the folder npx skills add installed it into.
FAQ
Can just one skill from the set be installed?
Yes, the --skill flag limits the install to one name, for example npx skills add mathbullet/skills --skill survey installs only the research skill, none of the other six.
Why use the html skill instead of just writing text?
It formats concepts, mechanisms and research findings as a visual HTML document with structure that is easier to read and show a client than a long chat text reply.
Do ja-explainer and ja-text-communication work in English or Russian?
No, per the README these are skills for Japanese-language communication and paper summaries, not built for other languages.
How are these skills installed in Claude Code through the marketplace?
With /plugin marketplace add mathbullet/skills, then /plugin install <name>@skills for each skill needed, as an alternative to the npx install.
Where does the survey skill get its sources?
Per the README it investigates a topic across papers, press articles, social-media posts and industry signals and compiles them into an indexed Markdown report, rather than generating facts with no references.

README in short
The README opens with a title linking to the English version, credits the author mathbullet with a link to their YouTube channel, and gives two install commands: the full set and a single skill via the --skill flag, plus a Claude Code plugin-marketplace alternative. It then lists all seven skills, auto-generated, with paths to their SKILL.md files and short descriptions, ending with an embedded star-history chart for the repository.
