Scientific article builder with GOST citations
scientific-article-builder
A Hermes agent skill that carries a paper from source to a clickable GOST citation in DOCX, and never lets a citation be invented
Low risk
We rate an entry low when it mostly gives the agent instructions and reference material.
Why this level
- It only writes local project files (registries, drafts, the final DOCX), with no external system calls
- The optional GigaChat offload sends text fragments to an external model API
Install
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add skills/scientific-article-builderDetects the agents on your machine, checks the risk and pins the version.
Other ways to install
Run in a terminal in the project folder
npx skills add arturio48/scientific-article-builder --skill scientific-article-builder -a claude-code -yThe skills tool installs the current version from the repository. Add the -g flag to use the skill in every project.

Copy the skill folder into the Hermes skills directory, verify with python tests/smoke_test.py (expect ALL SMOKE TESTS PASSED), then initialize a project with python scripts/init_project.py <path> --id <name> --pages <number>.
Other ways from the author
python scripts/init_project.py ~/hermes/research_projects/my-paper --id my-paper --pages 12Initializing a new academic paper project.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
The skill builds an evidence chain, source to excerpt to claim to paragraph to a clickable GOST citation, across 13 phases; three layers (evidence base, text, formatting) are validated independently by deterministic scripts with exit codes, not by reminding the model to be careful. Absolute constraints are hard-coded: it cannot invent a source, DOI, author, year, page or quote, a missing element gets flagged for manual bibliography review instead of being guessed. The final work state tops out at closed-with-author-review-required; the phrase ready to submit is structurally unreachable. The skill supersedes an earlier project, academic-evidence-pipeline-v1 (now deprecated), and reads its old projects with no migration needed.
Who it is for. For students and researchers who need an article, coursework or dissertation with traceable sources and GOST formatting, not text written from a model's memory.
Good fit when
- You need to write an article, coursework, thesis or dissertation with claims fully traceable to sources
- You have a brief, PDF or source list to turn into an academic work
- You need to check a finished article for fabricated citations and unsupported claims
Not a fit when
- You need creative or journalistic writing, not evidence-based academic work
- You use an agent other than Hermes: the skill is written for the Hermes Agent platform
Example request
Build an article on this topic from this source list, formatted per GOST with clickable citationsLimitations
Built for the Hermes Agent platform; install and metadata for other agents are not described. Building the DOCX needs python-docx already installed; the skill does not install packages itself and falls back to Markdown with a capability-gap report if it is missing. Requires Python 3.9+. The final status is never ready to submit, a deliberate constraint rather than a gap: the author must manually review the work before submission.
How to disable. Delete the skill folder from the Hermes skills directory.
Security check
- It only writes local project files (registries, drafts, the final DOCX), with no external system calls
- The optional GigaChat offload sends text fragments to an external model API
README in short
The README explains the skill's goal (the agent maintains an evidence base rather than writing from memory), gives a quick start from project init to DOCX build, lists the contents (SKILL.md, scripts, references, templates, smoke tests), describes guarantees via script exit codes, and a detailed inheritance table from academic-evidence-pipeline-v1, including migrating old projects with no data loss.
SKILL.md
--- name: scientific-article-builder description: Build an evidence-traceable academic paper (статья, курсовая, ВКР, диссертация) from a topic or a research brief, then export a GOST-formatted DOCX with clickable in-text citations and reference list. Use when the user asks to write, verify, audit, re-cite or GOST-format a scientific work, or to turn a research brief/PDF/source list into a draft with a full provenance chain. Enforces a validated state machine, refuses fabricated citations, and never marks the result ready to submit.
FAQ
Can the skill invent a source or quote?
No, this is an absolute constraint: a missing element is flagged for manual review, never guessed.
Will the skill mark work as ready to submit?
No, the maximum final status is closed with author review required; ready to submit is structurally unreachable.
