What it does
Sprite Gen generates 2D game sprites row by row from one base image, fixes the character's look, removes the chroma key background and assembles animation atlases: the `video-set` command and the `--facing right|left` direction. Image generation is built in. The `codex` and `grok` providers work on an already paid subscription, while the explicit `openai` provider targets servers and is paid by API. Install from a cloned repository with `pip install -e .`, with CPython 3.11 or newer and a working `venv` needed. The README is in six languages, with English as the main one.
Who it is for. For indie developers and 2D game artists who need sprite sets with a consistent character look and ready animation atlases.
Good fit when
- You need character sprites in several frames and directions from one picture
- You need to remove a chroma key background and assemble an animation atlas
- You need to keep the hero's look consistent across all frames
Not a fit when
- You need 3D graphics: the skill is about 2D sprites
- You have no access to Codex, Grok or the OpenAI API for image generation
Example request
Build right and left walking sprites from this knight drawing and assemble an animation atlasLimitations
The skill launches image generation and writes files into the project. The codex and grok providers use an already paid subscription, while the openai provider by API is paid. CPython 3.11 or newer and a working venv are required, installed from a cloned repository. The result depends on the chosen image model. Version 2.35.0 from 05.10.2026.
How to disable. Remove the skill folder from the agent's skills directory and run pip uninstall for the package if you installed it into an environment.
