What it does
Claude Code Statusline Pro (`ccsp`) configures the Claude Code status line. It shows the project, model, git branch, token usage with a colour gauge, session cost, Claude.ai subscription limits for 5 hours and 7 days, and status. There are three themes: Classic, Powerline and Capsule. A letter preset such as `PMBTURS` picks the components. Multiline mode lays widgets out in a grid: static text or an HTTP request to an API. Settings live in TOML. The core is rewritten in Rust and refreshes every 300 ms, as Claude Code recommends.
Who it is for. Claude Code users who want tokens, cost and the git branch always visible in the terminal.
Good fit when
- During a long session you watch context fill and cost.
- Cost is calculated with a third-party provider's prices, for example DeepSeek or Kimi.
- Claude.ai subscription limits for 5 hours and 7 days should sit in the line.
- The line needs a custom widget: static text or an HTTP API response.
Not a fit when
- The terminal has no Nerd Font and the Powerline or Capsule theme is selected.
- Claude Code is older than 1.0.71.
- You need monthly token reports: ccusage covers those.
Example request
Set up the Claude Code status line through `ccsp`: preset `PMBTURS`, Powerline theme, multiline mode off.Limitations
Claude Code 1.0.71 or newer and Node.js 16 or newer are required. The `@latest` suffix pulls the newest package version each time; pin a version if that matters. Powerline and Capsule themes need a Nerd Font, otherwise icons render as unreadable glyphs. Cost in `conversation` mode is stored in USD. `api` widgets send HTTP requests to addresses from your configuration. The line does not replace `/cost`: the two calculate over different periods.
How to disable. Delete the `statusLine` block from `.claude/settings.json`. If you created configs, remove `~/.claude/statusline-pro` along with widget templates.
FAQ
Where does the command go?
Into `statusLine.command` in `.claude/settings.json`, project-level or in your home directory. In a terminal it only prints a preview.
Which themes exist?
Classic, Powerline and Capsule. Classic has three icon modes: Nerd Font, Emoji and text. Powerline and Capsule need a Nerd Font.
What do the preset letters mean?
P project, M model, B git branch, T tokens, U usage, R rate limits, S status. The `PMBTURS` preset enables every component.
How do I create a config file?
`npx ccsp@latest config init -w` creates the main config and copies widget templates.
How is cost calculated for third-party models?
From Claude Code's `cost.total_cost_usd`, or recalculated locally from the profile's prices when `model_providers.<name>.pricing` is set. The `auto` currency follows the endpoint and model.
