What it does
Easel runs a social media account in five steps: find trends, plan topics and scripts, produce content, publish and feed performance back into the account profile. The project comes from the REAL lab at Zhejiang University and runs on top of OpenClaw. Publishing targets seven Chinese platforms, from Xiaohongshu to Bilibili. Each account has its own profile: positioning, style, audience, platforms, boundaries and long-term memory. The repository holds a library of 113 built-in skills with runnable scripts. They make graphics and video, voice-over with subtitles and explainers of scientific papers. Results are saved to outputs project folders. You can work with Easel in the full web workspace or in a terminal chat.

Running it needs Python 3.10, Node.js 24.16 or newer on the 24 line, 26.1 or newer, or 27, plus FFmpeg and Playwright with Chromium. The installer checks them and suggests what to do when something is missing. Linux, macOS and Windows 10 and 11 are supported.
The interface and documentation are mostly in Chinese, with an English version. The skills target Chinese platforms and their rules.
The license is Apache-2.0. Models need provider keys, and their availability from Russia should be checked separately, as should that of Chinese platforms.
How to disable. Stop the gateway and the web interface, then delete the cloned folder and the .venv environment. The easel OpenClaw profile is isolated from your main one and is removed separately; sign out of platform accounts on the platform sites.
FAQ
How do I install Easel?
Clone the repository and run `bash setup.sh`. Then activate the environment with `source .venv/bin/activate` and start `easel web` or `easel chat`. On Windows run .\setup.ps1 in PowerShell; WSL and Bash are not needed. `easel doctor` checks the installation.
Which platforms does Easel publish to?
Xiaohongshu, Douyin, Kuaishou, Zhihu, Bilibili, WeChat Channels and WeChat Official Accounts are supported, with sign-in, adaptation and publishing. Before release the agent checks quality and shows a preview.
What can the built-in skills do?
Beyond cards, video and voice-over, the skills generate music, remove noise, sync edits to the beat and process files in batches. Most skills come with runnable tools.
Is automated publishing on Xiaohongshu safe?
The authors warn that automation can trigger verification, reach limits and account problems. They advise using preview and preflight checks and confirming publishing by hand.
Can I use Easel without OpenClaw?
Yes, in the direct API mode: `bash setup.sh --api` or the web settings choice. It supports streaming chat, conversation history and profiles but does not run local tools, skills or publishing. Settings are read from EASEL_DIRECT_API_*.
