What it does
Harness Anything bundles several command-line tools through which an AI agent drives desktop programs over Windows COM. The `cli-anything-wps` tool has 47 commands for WPS Office and Microsoft Office: in Writer it handles paragraphs, headings, lists, tables and images, in Calc sheets, cells and formulas, in Impress slides, text boxes and shapes. Export goes to DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, TXT, HTML, CSV and RTF. Presentations get a design system with four presets and 14 layouts and a quality check across five dimensions. The `cli-anything-photoshop` and `cli-anything-illustrator` tools create and edit PSD and AI files: projects, layers, shapes, text, selections, filters and export to PNG, JPEG, SVG and PDF. The `cli-anything-zotero` tool manages a literature library and groups 27 academic skills into seven categories: search, research, writing, review, visualization, analysis and end-to-end pipelines such as meta-analysis. Beyond the tools, the repository ships ready projects that assemble presentations from JSON and the `pptengine` engine, which builds slides from code or from `slides.json`.

Good fit when
- You need to build a WPS presentation from JSON data with charts, tables and cards, ending with PPTX and PDF
- An agent has to edit Word, Excel or PowerPoint files through COM when ordinary libraries do not cover the format
- You need to automate Photoshop: create a PSD, add layers and text, export PNG or WebP
- You need to write a review or paper backed by a Zotero library and academic skills, for example `cli-anything-zotero skills pipeline meta_analysis`
- You need a vector draft in Illustrator: shapes, labels and export to SVG
Not a fit when
- You are on macOS or Linux: the tools rely on COM and pywin32 and target Windows 10 or 11 only
- You need an MCP server: the project offers console commands and SKILL.md files, not MCP
- WPS Office, Photoshop 2023 or newer or Illustrator is not installed: without the host program the tools have nothing to drive
- You must process Office files on a headless server where COM applications do not run

- Windows 10 and 11 only: every tool works through COM and needs Python 3.10 or newer and the `pywin32` package.
- The host programs must be installed: WPS Office 2019 or newer or Microsoft Office 2016 or newer, Zotero 7 for the literature part, Adobe Photoshop 2023 and Illustrator 2023 for graphics (those two are optional).
- Documentation and descriptions are written in Chinese, with no English README.
- Each tool installs separately: `cli-anything-wps` from the `yb2460/cli-anything-wps` repository, and `photoshop-harness` and `illustrator-harness` with `pip install -e .` from their `agent-harness` folders.
- The author lists WPS COM quirks that the engine works around: wrong `Adjustments` property syntax, unstable table borders, silent `SaveAs` failures. The SKILL.md recommends closing the `wps.exe` process before a build.
- Presentations follow rigid layout rules: a title of at most four characters and elements kept inside a 960 by 540 canvas.
How to disable. Remove the packages with `pip uninstall cli-anything-wps`, `pip uninstall cli-anything-zotero` and the same for the Photoshop and Illustrator tools. Delete the `SKILL.md` files from the agent's skills directory if you copied them there.

How do I install Harness Anything for WPS Office?
Run `pip install git+https://github.com/yb2460/cli-anything-wps.git` on Windows with Python 3.10 or newer and check `cli-anything-wps --help`. WPS Office 2019 or Microsoft Office 2016 and the `pywin32` package are required.
Which formats can cli-anything-wps export?
DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, TXT, HTML, CSV and RTF. For presentations it also builds PPTX together with PDF.
Does it work with Microsoft Office, not only WPS?
Yes. The COM interface is compatible with Microsoft Office VBA, so to drive Word, Excel or PowerPoint it is enough to change the ProgID to `Word.Application`, `Excel.Application` or `PowerPoint.Application`.
What does cli-anything-zotero do?
It manages a literature library and exposes 27 academic skills in seven categories. `cli-anything-zotero skills list` shows them all, `skills pipeline original_article` gives the recommended order for a research paper, and `skills journal "Nature"` prints a journal's figure requirements.
How do I install the Photoshop and Illustrator tools?
Go to `photoshop-harness/agent-harness` or `illustrator-harness/agent-harness` and run `pip install -e .`. Adobe Photoshop 2023 or Illustrator 2023 and the `pywin32` package are required.
