Broad access

Why this level

  • The daemon accepts commands and permission answers over the network for agents that run commands and write files on your computer.
  • An "allow" tap on the phone triggers agent actions on the computer, and encryption is not a sandbox.
  • Installation uses a script that is downloaded and run through `curl`.

Install

Manual install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/heypandax/pairlet/main/scripts/install.sh | bash

For macOS and Linux: verifies checksums, installs the daemon under `~/.local` and registers a service. Run `pairlet pair` afterwards.

How we review

What it does

Pairlet is a local control plane for command-line coding agents. The `pairlet` daemon on your computer runs the agent (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, OpenCode, Kimi Code, ZCode or DeepSeek) against your own checkout, while an app on a phone, tablet or another computer shows progress, answers permission prompts, continues the same session and lists changed files with line-level diffs. Traffic between the app and the daemon is end-to-end encrypted and travels through a relay that forwards only ciphertext: there is no Pairlet account and no content logging. The daemon dials out to the relay, so no inbound ports are needed. The `pairlet pair` command creates the pairing: the app scans a QR code or accepts a six-digit code.

Who it is for. Developers whose agents run for a long time: you can step away from the computer and still answer a permission prompt from your phone in time.

Good fit when

  • The agent waits for a command approval and you left your desk: the prompt reaches the phone and answering takes seconds.
  • A long task starts at home and is checked from a tablet on the way.
  • A session is taken over from the phone in place, without forking a new conversation.
  • You want to see which files the agent changed and read line-level diffs.
  • One person runs several agents on different projects and filters sessions by agent.

Not a fit when

  • The agent runs in the cloud: Pairlet controls only an agent on your own computer.
  • You work in OpenCode and want access modes: it has no approval protocol and sessions run with full access.
  • Encryption must pass a third-party audit: the custom Noise-style channel has not had an independent review yet.

Example request

Continue the Claude Code session from the phone and show which files it changed.

Limitations

The agent runs with your own operating-system permissions, and end-to-end encryption is not a sandbox. Capabilities depend on the agent: OpenCode has no approvals (always full access) and no changed-files list; Kimi Code is still Preview; DeepSeek has no usage accounting. First pairing relies on the relay not being compromised, so compare device fingerprints afterwards with `pairlet devices`. The iOS and Android apps come from the stores or the releases page, and there is no official Linux desktop app package. The license is MIT.

How to disable. Stop the daemon service (launchd on macOS, `systemd --user` on Linux, a scheduled task on Windows) and delete the install directory under `~/.local`. Device pairings can be revoked and expire on their own.

FAQ

How do I install Pairlet?

Install the app on a phone or computer and the daemon on the machine running the agent: `curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/heypandax/pairlet/main/scripts/install.sh | bash` on macOS and Linux or `irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/heypandax/pairlet/main/scripts/install.ps1 | iex` on Windows. Then run `pairlet pair`.

How is Pairlet related to CC Pocket?

Pairlet is the former name of the author's own project, CC Pocket (`cc-pocket`). The `cc-pocket-daemon` command supports the same subcommands. Another author runs a project of the same name and has a separate card in the catalog.

Which agents does Pairlet support?

Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, OpenCode, Kimi Code (Preview), ZCode and DeepSeek. Their capabilities differ: the project publishes the matrix itself, and OpenCode has no approvals.

Can I do without the relay?

Partly. The desktop app on the same computer connects to the daemon directly. A phone on the same network needs `pairlet config --direct-connect lan` and a daemon restart. The relay stays as the fallback from anywhere.

Can the relay see session content?

No. The relay forwards ciphertext and holds no messages or private keys. P-256 ECDH, HKDF and AES-256-GCM run between the app and the daemon.
