Extended access
Why this level
- The token exposes financial data in ledgers available to the user.
- With mcp:write the agent changes bookkeeping entries; deletion needs additional confirmation.
Install
- Works in
Manual install
docker compose up -dFirst README Docker Compose launch after creating its docker-compose.yml.
Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.
- The token exposes financial data in ledgers available to the user.
- With mcp:write the agent changes bookkeeping entries; deletion needs additional confirmation.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
BeeCount Cloud MCP is an MCP server connecting an agent to ledgers in a self-hosted BeeCount Cloud instance. Users issue a personal access token (PAT) so the agent can read expenses, categories, budgets and transaction history. Token permissions and ledger membership limit access. With write permission, an agent creates or changes bookkeeping entries, while deletion requires additional confirmation. These are accounting changes rather than real bank-payment instructions. The HTTP server is included in BeeCount Cloud.
Who it is for. Personal and family BeeCount ledger owners asking an agent about their spending.
Good fit when
- A user requests expense summaries with a read-only token.
- An agent lists available ledgers before choosing among several.
- An owner corrects a bookkeeping amount after reviewing the transaction.
- A team previews an import before applying it to a test ledger.
Not a fit when
- A user expects a bank transfer after changing a bookkeeping entry.
- An organization plans commercial deployment without the license required by the author.
- An agent would receive permanent deletion access just to read reports.

Limitations
A self-hosted BeeCount Cloud instance and a PAT with `mcp:read` are required; changes need separate `mcp:write` permission. That PAT works only at the MCP endpoint, which does not accept the ordinary access token. Legacy SSE addresses have been replaced by `/api/v1/mcp`, so older configurations need updating. The author’s license permits free personal, educational and non-commercial use, while commercial use requires a separate paid license.
How to disable. Remove the MCP client connection and revoke its PAT in BeeCount Cloud developer settings. Deleted tokens stop working immediately; ledgers and transactions remain.
FAQ
How does README deployment work?
Save its `docker-compose.yml`, then run `docker compose up -d` from that directory. Data persists in `./data`; create a separate MCP token after signing in to Web Console.
Where do I create a token?
Open `/app/settings/developer` on your instance and grant only `mcp:read`. The secret is shown once; retain it in client settings without publishing it to Git.
What is the MCP endpoint?
Append `/api/v1/mcp` to your server address. Pass the PAT in an `Authorization: Bearer ...` header; old `/sse` paths are no longer used.
How do I test read access?
Ask the agent to list available ledgers, select one and request monthly spending by category. Confirm the selection when several ledgers are available; the server checks membership and token permissions for that ledger.
What happens when deleting a transaction?
`delete_transaction` first returns a pending-confirmation result, then requires another call with `confirm=true`. The agent must obtain approval; keep write permission off for summaries.

README in short
The Docker deployment stores data in SQLite and `./data`. Developer settings show each token’s last use and IP address, helping owners identify and revoke unused connections while keeping their ledgers.
