What it does
The server gives the agent access to stock market data through the Financial Datasets service API. It exposes tools for a company's income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, its current and historical stock price, and company news. Separate tools return the list of available crypto tickers and current and historical crypto prices. All requests are data reads; the server places no trades and moves no funds. It runs locally over stdio via uv and connects to Claude Desktop and other MCP clients.

The server is a data source, not an investment advisor: it gives no recommendations, does not assess risk and executes no operations; trade decisions stay with the user. It needs a Financial Datasets API key, and data coverage and limits depend on the service plan. Running it requires Python 3.10 or newer and the uv package manager. There is no published npm or PyPI package; the server runs from source. API availability from Russia without a VPN is not verified.
How to disable. Remove the financial-datasets entry from mcpServers in the MCP client configuration and delete the server source directory.
