What it does
The server covers the Google Play Developer API (Android Publisher v3) and the Play Developer Reporting API v1beta1: 150 tools according to the README. An agent works with edits, uploads bundles, switches tracks and runs staged rollouts, edits store listings and images, reads and answers reviews, manages subscriptions and base plans, one-time products and orders, and pulls reports. The auth_* tools check the service account.
Who it is for. For developers and publishers of Android apps who ship releases and answer reviews in Google Play Console and want to hand part of the routine to an agent.
Good fit when
- You need to push a build to a chosen track and run the rollout in stages
- You need to go through fresh reviews and draft replies
- You need to update the store listing: texts and images
Not a fit when
- You are not ready to give the service account write access to Play Console
- You need stability guarantees: the server is still on version 0.1.x
Example request
Show the app's tracks, push the new build to closed testing and start a 10 percent rolloutMCP

Limitations
The server writes to Play Console: it can publish releases to production, change the app listing, answer reviews and manage subscriptions. The README advises giving the service account minimal roles and separately warns that the server can delete app metadata. Actions show up in Cloud IAM Audit Logs. There are no environment variables for the key: the path to the service account JSON key is kept in the server's local account registry, and the key itself is not in the repository. Version 0.1.3, 10 commits in the repository.
How to disable. Remove the server from the client config (in Claude Code: claude mcp remove google-play-developer) and the package with npm uninstall -g google-play-developer-mcp. Then remove the service account from the Play Console users and revoke its key in Google Cloud.
FAQ
How does the server get access to Play Console?
Through a Google Cloud service account. Create it, invite its email in Play Console under Users and permissions, and register the account with a server tool. The server keeps the path to the JSON key in a local registry.
Are there environment variables for the key?
No. The key path is written to the server's account registry at registration, so the client config has no variables.
Which permissions should the service account get?
Minimal ones, matched to the tasks: the server's author advises the same. The server's actions can be checked in Cloud IAM Audit Logs.
How many tools does the server have?
The README lists 150: edits, bundles, tracks, store listings, reviews, subscriptions, orders and reports.
