What it does
The repository wraps the APIs of South Korea's open data portal data.go.kr into MCP servers. Each server ships as its own PyPI package, so you install only the one you need. The agent gets a single interface in place of several government API formats, and Pydantic validates the data types. There are six servers. The first returns business information from the national pension service database, and the second checks business registration and status with the tax service. The third reads notices, results and contracts of the Narajangteo e-procurement system. The fourth returns company financial statements from the Financial Services Commission, the fifth chemical safety data sheets (MSDS), and the sixth speech texts from the presidential archive. The servers run through uvx or as a Python module. For your own source there is a script that scaffolds a new server on the same pattern.
Who it is for. For analysts and developers working with Korean companies, public procurement or chemical safety who want to query data through Claude Desktop, Cline or Cursor.
Good fit when
- You need to check a Korean counterparty: business registration status at the tax service
- You need to find tenders and award results in Narajangteo and match them with contracts
- You need the financial statements of a Korean company: balance sheet and income statement
- You need the MSDS safety data sheet of a chemical substance by name
- You want to build your own MCP server on another portal API and take a ready project template
Not a fit when
- You need data from other countries: the servers cover only the Korean portal data.go.kr
- You have no access key to the portal API: without it the servers return no data
- You want one server for all six sources: each source installs as a separate package
- You need active maintenance: the last commit dates from September 2025
Example request
Check the registration status of the company with number 000-00-00000 at the Korean tax service and tell me whether it is activeMCP
- Transport
- stdio
- Authentication
- API key
Environment variables
API_KEYrequired, secret- Access key for the open data portal API, named the same for all servers
Limitations
- Each server needs a data.go.kr portal API key, passed in the API_KEY environment variable.
- The docs are in Korean, and each server's description sits separately in its own folder under src.
- Needs Python 3.10 or newer, plus Cookiecutter for the new-server generator.
- The last repository update dates from September 2025, so check that the portal still serves the API methods you need.
- The license is Apache-2.0.
How to disable. Remove the server's entry from the MCP client configuration file and restart the client. Packages installed through pip or uv are removed with `pip uninstall` and the package name.
FAQ
Which servers are in Korea Data.go.kr MCP Servers?
NPS Business Enrollment for business data in the pension service, NTS Business Verification for business registration checks, PPS Narajangteo for procurement, FSC Financial Info for financial statements, Presidential Speeches for speeches and MSDS Chemical Info for chemical data sheets.
How do I install one of the servers?
Run `uv pip install data-go-mcp.nts-business-verification` or `pip install` with the same name, substituting the package you need. The repository table lists the names.
How do I connect a server to Claude Desktop?
Add an entry to claude_desktop_config.json with command uvx, the argument package-name@latest and the API_KEY variable. The file lives in ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/ on macOS and %APPDATA%\Claude\ on Windows.
How do I build my own server for another portal API?
The scripts/create_mcp_server.py script scaffolds a project from a template. The step-by-step process is in docs/creating-new-mcp-server.md and the example docs/step-by-step-example.md, and the repository has an add-mcp-server command for Claude Code.
Can I run a server without uvx?
Yes, as a Python module: set the command to python and the arguments to -m data_go_mcp.nps_business_enrollment.server, substituting the module of the server you need.

The docs are in Korean and open with an explanation of MCP for people connecting servers for the first time. A separate part targets developers, who build a new server from a Cookiecutter template and test it with pytest.
