What it does
Monarch MCP Server reads Monarch Money data for an agent: accounts, transactions, budgets. It works through an unofficial community library (the monarchmoneycommunity fork) and not the official API. After the API change in May 2026 sign-in by a ready token may not be accepted and login sign-in is needed, with the long session stored in the system password store. Installation: `git clone https://github.com/robcerda/monarch-mcp-server.git`, then `pip install -r requirements-lock.txt --require-hashes`, with Docker also available. No releases, MIT license.
Who it is for. For people who run a budget in Monarch Money and want to review spending with an agent.
Good fit when
- You need a review of spending and budgets from Monarch Money
- You need transactions and accounts in an agent
- You need an MCP server for personal finances
Not a fit when
- You cannot give an agent financial data
- You need an official API: the library is unofficial
Example request
Show spending by category for last month and find the three biggest irregular expensesMCP

Limitations
Financial data is highly sensitive: accounts, transactions and budgets, so access is wide. The session key equals the account password, do not publish it or leave it in shared files. The library is unofficial and may break when the API changes. Install dependencies with hash checking as in the README.
How to disable. Remove the server entry, the repository clone and the session from the system password store and change the Monarch password.
