What it does
The TypeScript server drives SolidWorks through the native winax module. According to the README the tools are grouped by category: modeling, sketches, drawings, export to STEP, IGES, STL, PDF, DWG and DXF, analysis, VBA generation and macros. For API methods with 13 or more parameters the server builds a VBA macro itself. The npm package solidworks-mcp-server is at version 3.1.3. Windows 10 or 11, a licensed SolidWorks 2021–2025 and Node.js 20 or newer are required; the SOLIDWORKS_PATH variable sets the path to the program.
Who it is for. For designers and CAD automators who work in SolidWorks and are ready to deal with VBA and COM.

Limitations
The README warns directly: most tools are not verified on a live SolidWorks. Sketches (basic operations) are verified, modeling is partly verified, and drawings, analysis and macros are not. Global npm installation does not work because of the native winax module: clone the repository, run npm install and npm run build, then launch through node. The server runs COM calls and VBA macros in your SolidWorks, so work on a copy of the model.
How to disable. Remove the server entry from the client config and delete the repository clone. Check and delete any generated VBA macros by hand.
FAQ
Can I install it globally through npm?
No: the native winax module breaks a global installation. Clone the repository and run npm install and npm run build.
What has the author verified?
Basic sketch operations are verified and modeling is partly verified. The author has not verified drawings, analysis and macros on a live SolidWorks.
Which SolidWorks versions are supported?
SolidWorks 2021–2025 on Windows 10 and 11, with Node.js 20 or newer.
How is it different from the Python version?
This is a TypeScript server with export, VBA and drawings. The Python version is simpler and gives 22 tools for parts and sketches.
