What it does
The package ships one ASO toolkit in two forms. For Claude Code CLI, four agents copy into ~/.claude/agents/: aso-master as the orchestrator, aso-research for keyword research and competitor analysis through the public iTunes Search API, aso-optimizer for metadata text with field-length checks, and aso-strategist for launch timelines. Four slash commands run the whole flow or part of it: /aso-full-audit at 30-40 minutes, /aso-optimize at 10-15, /aso-prelaunch at 15-20 and /aso-competitor with competitor names in quotes. For Claude Desktop and Claude.ai the same toolkit packages as a standalone skill: the app-store-optimization.zip archive uploads through Settings → Capabilities → Upload Custom Skill, and after that a plain request like "analyze my app" works with no slash commands and no agents. The CLI version's output lands in an outputs/[AppName] folder with 01-research, 02-metadata, 03-testing, 04-launch, 05-optimization subfolders and one 00-MASTER-ACTION-PLAN.md summary. Metadata is checked against Apple's character limits (30 for the title, 30 for the subtitle, 100 for the keyword field) and Google's (50 for the title, 80 for the short description, 4000 for the full description), and the pre-launch checklist runs to 47 items.
Who it is for. For mobile app developers and marketers preparing a launch or store-listing update for App Store and Google Play who want metadata that fits each platform's character limits without counting by hand.
Good fit when
- A full pre-launch review is needed: /aso-full-audit runs research, metadata, testing and the checklist in one pass
- The app already exists and only the title, subtitle and description need updating to Apple and Google limits: /aso-optimize handles that alone
- A verified task list is needed before submission: /aso-prelaunch gives a 47-item checklist with specific dates, not generic timeframes
- Metadata needs comparing against named competitors: /aso-competitor takes a quoted list of apps
- There is no Claude Code access, only Claude Desktop or Claude.ai: the same toolkit installs by uploading app-store-optimization.zip as a regular skill
Not a fit when
- Google Play Console data is needed directly: the tool pulls competitor data from the public iTunes Search API, so it is mostly App Store-centric, and Google metadata is checked against the same character rules with no separate API
- Metadata should upload straight into App Store Connect or Play Console with one click: the output is Markdown files to copy over, not automatic publishing
- The app is not even roughly defined yet: the agents and skill expect an app name and description as input, not a blank idea
Example request
Run /aso-full-audit for FitFlow, a fitness-tracking app for beginners, and prepare metadata within App Store and Google Play limitsLimitations
The four Claude Code CLI agents use Opus for aso-master, aso-research and aso-strategist and Sonnet for aso-optimizer, so a full audit uses noticeably more tokens than a single request. Competitor analysis relies on the free public iTunes Search API, which the project itself documents no official rate limits for. The Claude Desktop and Claude.ai version is described as a standalone skill for conversational analysis, with no slash commands and no multi-agent workflow from the CLI version. The LICENSE.md file is marked MIT.
How to disable. Delete the copied agent files from ~/.claude/agents/ and the commands from ~/.claude/commands/, if installed. For Claude Desktop and Claude.ai, open Settings → Capabilities and remove the uploaded app-store-optimization skill.
FAQ
How do I install ASO Agent Skill for Claude Code?
Clone the repository and copy the files from .claude/agents/aso/ into ~/.claude/agents/, plus the commands from .claude/commands/aso/ into ~/.claude/commands/. Verify with claude --list-agents | grep aso.
How do I install the same toolkit without Claude Code?
For Claude Desktop and Claude.ai, download app-store-optimization.zip from the repository and upload it through Settings → Capabilities → Upload Custom Skill, then ask for analysis in plain language with no slash commands.
How long does a full audit take?
The /aso-full-audit command runs every phase in 30-40 minutes. Separately, /aso-optimize takes 10-15 minutes, /aso-prelaunch 15-20 minutes, and /aso-competitor also 10-15 minutes.
Where does competitor data come from?
aso-research calls Apple's free, official public iTunes Search API, and can additionally use WebFetch to gather more data.
Does the tool check Apple and Google character limits?
Yes, aso-optimizer validates fields against Apple's limits (30 characters for the title and subtitle, 100 for the keyword field) and Google's (50 for the title, 80 for the short description, 4000 for the full description).

README in short
The README covers both forms, the Claude Code CLI and the standalone Claude Desktop and Claude.ai skill, a table of the four slash commands with duration and output, the five-stage output folder structure and a sample set of finished metadata for a fictional FitFlow app. A separate architecture section shows the agent tree and the models each one uses, and a testing section confirms the iTunes API integration works on a real example.
