Why this level

  • The integration reads private conversations and can send messages as the agent
  • The hosted gateway receives message contents and channel credentials

Install

In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI

npx skillfoxx add skills/caspian

How we review

Broad accessThe tool can change data, run commands or handle secrets.

  • The hosted gateway receives message contents and channel credentials
  • Untrusted messages can become instructions for a connected coding agent

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

The Caspian skill guides a coding agent through adding communication channels to an application. It helps choose a channel, install the SDK and add a message handler. Your application decides how to respond; Caspian delivers messages to the right thread. You can integrate an existing project or begin with a template. Separate guides can also make Claude Code or Codex reachable through messaging. A single test email channel in an application is a simpler starting point. By default, the Caspian gateway receives inbound messages and your process polls it. The `self-host` mode runs supported adapters with your own tokens. Discover channels on the live gateway before configuration: a channel’s appearance in a general table does not establish availability for your account.

Who it is for. For developers adding email or team-chat communication between an agent and people.

Good fit when

  • One agent needs to answer people across several channels through a shared handler
  • You want to add a test email address to an existing application
  • Telegram or Slack messages need replies in their original threads
  • You need to choose between the Caspian gateway and an adapter on your infrastructure

Not a fit when

  • You need a ready-made MCP server: this capability is still on the project roadmap
  • You only need a message sent through one channel that is already configured
  • You cannot restrict who sends instructions to an agent with access to work files

Example request

Read the Caspian skill and plan a test email integration for this application. Show code changes and sign-in steps, then wait for the mailbox name.

Limitations

The Python SDK needs Python 3.10 or later. The TypeScript option requires Node.js 18 or later, or Bun. Hosted gateway use requires sign-in and `CASPIAN_API_KEY`, with charges against the account balance at `https://dashboard.trycaspianai.com`.

Licenses conflict: the root `LICENSE` contains AGPL-3.0, while the README names Apache-2.0. Published npm package `caspian-sdk` version 1.0.1 declares MIT. Check the chosen package’s terms.

Use the published skill and SDK for integration. The project tree marks the `@caspian/cli` manifest as `private`.

How to disable. Stop the Caspian handler process and remove the integration calls from the application. Remove the installed skill from the client. Revoke the Caspian key and channel permissions with their providers; inspect webhooks so they no longer send messages to the old handler.

FAQ

Where is the current Caspian skill?

Open `https://api.trycaspianai.com/SKILL.md` in a coding agent and choose an integration path. OpenClaw has a separate command: `clawhub install @trycaspian/caspian`.

Is a public webhook mandatory?

Not in hosted mode: the application polls the gateway. Self-hosted inbound depends on the channel; Slack and Discord can use a persistent connection.

Can I get an anonymous key?

No. The current gateway requires browser sign-in. The older skill description promises an anonymous test key, but the live instructions no longer offer that route.

Does the SDK read `.env` automatically?

No. The application must load environment variables and pass the key to `Caspian(...)`. Keep `.env` out of Git history.

Do all messages stay on my machine?

No. In hosted mode, Caspian and the selected platform process messages. The response model may receive their text too. `self-host` moves the adapter to your infrastructure, but the communication platform still handles messages.

README in short

The monorepo contains SDKs, plugins and channel guides. Version 1.x replaces the older `CommClient` interface; examples from 0.6.x need review before reuse.

# caspian: one handler, every channel

You are integrating Caspian. It gives an agent a real presence on many channels
behind ONE `on_message` handler and `thread.post()` — the same code answers on
every channel. The gateway is https://api.trycaspianai.com.

## Two ways to use this guide - ask the developer FIRST

Before doing anything else, ask your human ONE question:

  A) Wire Caspian into the codebase we are in right now
(an existing agent/app gains messaging channels - continue below)

  B) Scaffold a NEW custom agent from a template
(a framework is the brain; Caspian is the comms layer)

  C) Make THIS coding agent reachable by message
(Claude Code / Codex / OpenCode becomes the brain, in headless mode -
you can then text your own coding agent. Powerful; read its security note.)

If C, fetch the guide for the coding agent you are:

  https://api.trycaspianai.com/SKILL/claude-code-python.md
  https://api.trycaspianai.com/SKILL/codex-python.md
  https://api.trycaspianai.com/SKILL/opencode-python.md

If B, ask which framework, then fetch ONLY that guide and follow it:
