What it does
dbskill is a set of 35 skills by the blogger dontbesilent for business decisions and content work. The entry skill `/dbs` analyzes a question and chooses what to do next: answer at once, ask for a missing fact, offer options, combine several skills or compare approaches. It also handles the `新手入门` newcomer prompt and the three-digit codes from the author's videos. Dedicated skills cover narrow tasks: `/dbs-diagnosis` examines a business model, customers and pricing, `/dbs-benchmark` picks comparison models, and `/dbs-jtbd` and `/dbs-good-question` clarify a need and a stated task. For content there are `/dbs-content` (structure and arguments of a piece), `/dbs-resonate` and `/dbs-script-flow` (audience response and coherence), `/dbs-title-cover-intro` (title, cover text and the start of a short video) and `/dbs-content-risk-check`, which before publishing looks through text and images for spots that can trigger a platform's automatic review. The `/dbs-video-extract` skill fetches a video's data and speech transcript through the TikHub and 轻抖 services. The `/dbs-knowledge` skill builds a knowledge base with navigation and version checks from a local folder, and `/dbs-save` and `/dbs-restore` store and bring back diagnosis results in `~/.dbs/`. The methods rest on 16,152 public tweets by the author and 4,176 knowledge atoms drawn from them.
Who it is for. For small business owners, content creators and consultants who read Chinese and want an agent to walk through a question or a text of theirs.
Good fit when
- A small business is losing customers and you need to see where to look: product, price or audience fit
- You have a draft episode or post and need a title, cover text and a short video opening for a chosen platform
- Before publishing you want to find spots in text, images and subtitles that a platform may restrict
- You want to turn a local documents folder into a knowledge base where an agent finds files and versions
- Work on a question takes several days and interim conclusions must be saved and brought back in a new conversation
Not a fit when
- You do not read Chinese: the skills, analyses and knowledge base are written in Chinese
- You need commercial use, such as paid consulting: the CC BY-NC 4.0 license forbids it without the author's consent
- You need video data from other platforms, such as YouTube: `/dbs-video-extract` targets Douyin, Xiaohongshu and WeChat Channels
- You need an exact sales forecast or a legal opinion: the skills give a reasoning frame and questions, and the decision stays with you

- The license is CC BY-NC 4.0: you may study, copy and change the material with attribution, but only for non-commercial use. Commercial use needs the author's agreement. GitHub does not recognize this license.
- On every `/dbs` entry the `check-update.sh` script runs: once a day it reads `UPDATE.json` in the author's repository and stores a timestamp in `~/.dbs/update_check_at`. A three-digit code pulls an instruction from a public GitHub catalog at use time, so such text is worth reading before it runs.
- The `/dbs-video-extract` skill collects video and account data from Douyin, Xiaohongshu and WeChat Channels through the paid TikHub and 轻抖 services. Keys are obtained from those services and stored in `~/.config/dbs/API_Keys.md` with owner-only permissions. It may be applied only to material you have rights to. The author states there is no affiliation with these services.
- The `/dbs-content-risk-check` skill estimates likely automatic-review signals and does not guarantee that a platform will accept a post.
- The tweet-based reference materials and the knowledge base live in the repository, but the Skills CLI downloads only the skill files.
How to disable. For a Skills CLI install delete the dbs skill folders from the agent's directory. For the Claude Code plugin use `claude plugin uninstall dbs@dontbesilent-skills`. Saved results and reports live in `~/.dbs/` and video-service keys in `~/.config/dbs/API_Keys.md`: delete both by hand.
FAQ
How do I get started with the set?
After installing, type `/dbs 新手入门` in the conversation, which is the newcomer prompt: the entry skill explains what the set can do and how to pick a skill. If you do not know where to begin, describe the situation after `/dbs` and it will choose a next step from what you have already given.
How does installing as a Claude Code plugin differ?
Plugin commands get the `dbs:` prefix: the main entry becomes `/dbs:dbs`, diagnosis `/dbs:dbs-diagnosis`, content `/dbs:dbs-content`. A Skills CLI install keeps short names such as `/dbs`. The plugin can also be installed in parts, for example `dbs-diagnosis@dontbesilent-skills`.
What does `/dbs-save` do?
It stores the results of the current diagnosis in `~/.dbs/`: conclusions, rejected directions and the confirmed next step. The `/dbs-restore` skill brings them back in a new conversation. `/dbs-save` itself diagnoses nothing and only records.
How does `/dbs-content-risk-check` work?
It goes sentence by sentence through titles, text, image captions, subtitles and video frames and for each spot answers two questions: what a platform's machine may recognize and whether the content has a substantive problem. Each finding names the location, the consequence and the smallest fix.
What does `/dbs-video-extract` need?
Keys for TikHub (video and account data) and 轻抖 (speech transcript). The `extract_video.py --check-keys` script shows what is missing. It works with one key too, but then only half of the functions are available. The user pays for the keys, and the skill makes no payments.
