What it does
OKX agent-skills is a set of ten skills from the OKX exchange itself. Each skill is a Markdown `SKILL.md` file that says when to activate it and carries ready commands for the `okx` command-line client. The agent reads the skill and calls the right commands on its own. The skills split by task. `okx-cex-market` returns prices, order books, candles, funding rates and more than 70 technical indicators without API keys. `okx-cex-trade` places and cancels orders on spot, perpetual swaps, futures and options, including take-profit, stop-loss and trailing stops. `okx-cex-portfolio` shows balances, positions and profit, `okx-cex-bot` runs grid and DCA bots, and `okx-cex-earn` handles savings and staking. Other skills cover account login (`okx-cex-auth`), top-trader analytics (`okx-cex-smartmoney`), news and sentiment (`okx-sentiment-tracker`), the skills marketplace (`okx-cex-skill-mp`) and monitoring of earn offers (`earn-hunter`).
Who it is for. Traders and analysts with an OKX account who want to read the market, place orders and manage bots in plain words from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
Good fit when
- In the morning you compare funding rates and open interest across a dozen contracts, and no keys are needed for it.
- A swap position is closed with take-profit and stop-loss, and the agent computes the size from the contract face value.
- A grid bot is set up with the parameters the exchange itself recommends, and you watch its positions.
- Idle funds are spread across flexible and fixed earn products, and you want alerts about new profitable offers.
- A strategy is first run on a demo account with the `--demo` flag, without real money.
Not a fit when
- You want to hand orders to an agent without confirming each one: the skills work with real money when live mode is selected.
- You need ready trading advice: the market-data skill states outright that it gives no recommendations.
- Your account is on another exchange: every command is tied to OKX.
- API keys would have to be pasted into the agent chat, which the skill asks you not to do.
Example request
On the OKX demo account show the BTC-USDT daily candles and RSI, then work out a position size for 200 USDT and place a limit order.Limitations
The skills need the `okx` command-line client, which installs separately from npm and requires Node.js. Market data needs no login, while the other skills need an OKX account: OAuth login or an API key in `~/.okx/config.toml`. The trading mode, live or demo, is chosen before each command. In live mode orders and bots spend real money, and an executed trade cannot be undone. The skills call `okx upgrade` to refresh the client. Some texts in the repository are bilingual, with Chinese explanations. The main branch of the repository is called `github-main`.
How to disable. Delete the `okx-*` and `earn-hunter` skill folders from the agent's skills directory. Close the stored login with `okx auth logout` and remove the client with `npm uninstall -g @okx_ai/okx-trade-cli`. Revoke any API keys in the OKX account settings.
FAQ
How do I install the OKX skills in Claude Code?
Install the client first with `npm install -g @okx_ai/okx-trade-cli`. Then copy the folders you need from `skills/` of the repository into the Claude Code skills directory. The README gives no separate command for installing the skills.
Are API keys needed to look at prices?
No. The `okx-cex-market` skill is read-only and needs no login. Keys or an OAuth login are needed for the trading, portfolio, bot and earn skills.
How can I try it without real money?
Add `--demo`, for example `okx --demo spot orders`. With an OAuth login the flag switches demo mode on, and with API keys a profile with the demo setting is picked through `--profile`.
How do the skills differ from the OKX MCP server?
The skills are text instructions the agent follows to run `okx` commands in a terminal. The MCP server exposes the same operations as callable tools. For MCP see the separate OKX Agent Trade Kit card.
What if the session expires?
The skill stops the commands and asks you to log in again. Run `okx auth login` through the `okx-cex-auth` skill, and after a successful login the agent repeats the command.

README in short
The repository holds a `skills/` folder with one directory per skill and a shared `_shared/preflight.md` note. The format section explains that the `description` field drives skill routing and that Codex CLI caps it at 1024 characters.
