What it does
The `video-to-game` skill teaches an agent to turn a short clip into a playable game. The agent splits the video into frames, takes the palette and cut times, and writes a spec for the camera, hero and one core mechanic. Images, 3D models and sounds are generated with fal to match the video. The game ships as a single `index.html` on Three.js, with no engine or template. At the end the agent plays its own game through a keyboard scenario, records the liveliest seconds and fixes spots where the hero falls or hits a wall.
Who it is for. Indie developers and designers who need a game prototype from a reference video rather than a set of grey boxes.
Good fit when
- A gameplay video exists and a playable browser version is needed.
- A prototype goes to a client, so a recognisable look matters more than placeholders.
- The agent plays the build itself and attaches a recording as proof.
- A demo needs a series of short Three.js games with different mechanics.
Not a fit when
- Generation costs on fal are not acceptable.
- The game must run in Unity or Godot.
- A networked game with a server is required.
Example request
Turn `gameplay.mp4` into a playable browser game with the video-to-game skill, generate the assets with fal and show a recording of the play.Limitations
Assets need a `FAL_KEY`, and fal requests are paid. According to the README, the 31 gallery games cost about 202 USD in total, roughly 6 USD per game. The scripts need Python 3.9 or newer, ffmpeg and Node 18 or newer with `playwright-core` for recording. The result is limited to one HTML page on Three.js and has to be ported for another engine. Game quality depends on the source video: without a clear mechanic and camera the prototype is weak.
How to disable. Delete the skill folder from `~/.claude/skills/` or run `claude plugin uninstall video-to-game`. Revoke the `FAL_KEY` in the fal dashboard.
FAQ
Which agents are supported?
The README names Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI. Claude Code has a plugin; the others use `npx skills add lovisdotio/video-to-game`.
Is my own video required?
No. Start from `prompts/gameplay-video-prompts.md`, which collects the rules for clips that rebuild cleanly into a game.
What do I get at the end?
A game folder with a single `index.html` and a recording of the agent playing a level. Side-by-side frame pairs of the video and the game are included for style comparison.
Where can I see examples?
The README has a gallery of 31 games with prompts, fal models and the cost of each, plus a link to the online version.
How much does one game cost?
According to the README, the 31 gallery games cost about 202 USD, roughly 6 USD each. Spend depends on how many images, models and sounds the agent requests from fal.

README in short
The video acts as the design document: frames, palette and mechanic come from it. fal generates the assets, and the game is checked with a keyboard scenario and a recording.
