Why this level
- The tools delete boards, columns and cards, and deletes sync to other devices
- After the OAuth sign-in the agent gets access to all your boards on the server

- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/doskaDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
Doska is a kanban board with Markdown cards: data lives locally and syncs to a folder or a server. Its MCP server gives an agent 19 tools. The agent reads boards and folders, creates boards, columns and cards, changes a title, body, deadline, priority and assignees, and moves cards between columns. `check_task` ticks a single task-list item in a card body without touching the rest of the text, `search_cards` searches every board, and `list_upcoming` collects overdue items, today's items and deadlines in the next 60 days. The server runs at `/mcp` on your Doska server behind OAuth, and on the first call the client opens a browser to sign in. The desktop app can serve the same tools: the feature is turned on in settings as Local MCP, and the app shows the command to paste. Edits land in Postgres and reach other devices on the next sync. The server passes the client its own instructions: what the done column is, how deadlines and priorities work and which Markdown dialect card bodies use.
Who it is for. People who run tasks on their own kanban board and want to hand an agent the breakdown of discussions, deadline setting and a daily overview.
Good fit when
- A discussion with the agent ended in a task list, and cards are to be created from it in the right columns
- The agent ticks done items in a card through `check_task`, and the text around stays untouched
- In the morning you want an overview: what is overdue, what is due today and what falls in the next 60 days
- The boards live on your own server, and you would rather not send them to a third-party cloud
- Cards by text, deadline, priority or assignee are to be found across all boards at once
Not a fit when
- Tasks live in Trello, Jira or Linear: Doska works only with its own boards
- The agent has to upload a file to a card: attachments are read-only through MCP
- You have neither your own server nor the desktop app: the MCP works only on a Doska server or in the app

Limitations
- Deleting a board or a column takes its cards with it and spreads to other devices on sync.
- A client that has not read the server's instructions writes card bodies with wrong markup: the dialect includes `[[card]]` links, `==text==` highlight and a `-cut-` line.
- Access to `/mcp` is behind OAuth, and the client must be able to open a browser for sign-in.
- The project is in active development, and desktop builds for Windows and Linux remain beta, with the Windows build unsigned.
How to disable. In Claude Code run `claude mcp remove doska`. Local MCP in the desktop app is turned off in Settings, in the same Local MCP section.
FAQ
How do I connect Doska to Claude Code?
Run `claude mcp add --transport http doska https://your-server/mcp` with your server's address. The first call opens a browser for sign-in, and the client keeps the token after that. The same address works for Claude Desktop and claude.ai.
Can I work without a server?
Yes, through the desktop app. Turn on Local MCP in Settings and paste the command the app shows into a terminal. The app serves the same tools to agents on your computer.
What can the agent do with a card?
Create it, change its title, body, deadline, priority and assignees, append text to the end with `append`, move it to another column and mark it done. A separate `check_task` tool ticks or unticks one checkbox in a task list.
What happens on deletion?
Deletes stay as tombstones, as in the app itself, and spread to other devices. Deleting a column takes its cards with it, and deleting a board removes columns together with their cards.
How do I install the Doska server?
The easiest route is the repository's `install.sh` script: it deploys the server on Docker Compose and takes a backup before an update. By hand you copy `docker-compose.selfhost.yml` and `.env.selfhost.example`, fill in `AUTH_LOGIN`, `AUTH_PASSWORD`, `AUTH_SECRET` and `BASE_URL`, and run `docker compose -f docker-compose.selfhost.yml up -d`.

README in short
The README describes Doska as a fast Markdown app with offline mode, accounts, shared and public boards, SSO and attachments. Installing the desktop version through Homebrew, a self-hosting script on Docker Compose and a section on MCP follow. Tool details are in `packages/mcp/README.md`.
