How we review

What it does

OverClick is a self-hosted task board for teams of humans and AI agents. Humans decide and review while agents execute. The board is an interface, a database and an MCP server, and any MCP-capable agent can connect and claim cards. A card is a three-part contract: what should happen, why, and how to confirm it in plain language. The agent claims it over MCP, declares its CLI, model and effort, receives a self-contained briefing and hands off a summary, evidence, branch and PR links and measured tokens per model and time. Only a human stamps Validated. The Claude Code plugin adds the `OVERCLICK.md` file, `/overclick:*` commands and lifecycle hooks. The MCP server exposes 32 tools over Streamable HTTP with bearer tokens.

Who it is for. Small teams that delegate tasks to Claude Code or Codex and want to see time and tokens spent per card.

Good fit when

  • An agent is told to grab the next task from the board and the result must be accepted by a test script.
  • A large decision is written as an RFC card and approval spawns execution cards.
  • You want to know how many tokens a feature took, by model and project.
  • Board data must not leave your own server.

Not a fit when

  • You need a ready cloud service: the board has to be self-hosted.
  • You need a mature reporting system: the project is at version 0.1 and changing fast.
  • Tasks live in Jira with nowhere to move them.

Example request

Grab the next task from the OverClick board, do it on your own branch and hand it off with evidence and token measurements.

Limitations

The project is early (version 0.1): the core loop of create, claim, hand off and validate works, while the setup wizard, settings and insights are still landing. The board is deployed with `docker compose up --build`, which needs Docker and an `AUTH_SECRET`. Sign-in uses a six-digit emailed code through Resend, and without `RESEND_API_KEY` the admin signs in through a one-time link. The plugin claim guard and stop guards are disabled by default.

How to disable. Disable the plugin with the Claude Code command and remove the MCP entry, then revoke the token on the board. The board itself is stopped with `docker compose down`.

FAQ

How do I connect an agent to OverClick?

Run `claude mcp add --transport http overclick` with your board `/mcp` address and an `Authorization: Bearer` header. Then tell the agent to grab the next task.

What does the plugin add on top of MCP?

The `OVERCLICK.md` file, `/overclick:*` commands and lifecycle hooks. MCP alone is enough to work with cards.

Who sets the Validated status?

Only a human. A merge is the machine opinion, while validation by the script in the card stays with you.

How do I sign in without email?

Create the admin and run `docker compose exec app pnpm emergency-login you@example.com`: it prints the path of a file holding a one-time link.

What data does the board collect?

None externally: no analytics, no email verification and no third-party calls. Agents record tokens and time per card themselves at hand-off.
