What it does
Kanzo combines a kanban board, terminal commands and MCP server in one program. Users create and inspect tasks in a browser while agents claim cards, update status and comment through MCP. A project is matched to the working repository’s Git remote. The board can stay on one machine, be shared with trusted computers or sync through an owned private Git repository. A Human marker reserves a task for a person. Backlog holds ideas until users move them into the execution queue.
Who it is for. For developers and small teams sharing a task board between people and AI agents.
Good fit when
- See which task an agent claimed.
- Keep work discussion on a card.
- Reserve some tasks for a human.
- Sync a board between owned computers.
Not a fit when
- The board would be shared on an untrusted network without login.
- You need enterprise role-based access.
- Tasks cannot be retained in a local directory.
Example request
Create a test Kanzo board, mark one task Human and connect an agent only to the approved project.MCP

- stdio

- not required
Limitations
The board lives in `~/kanzo` by default, so back up that directory and restrict access. Sharing has no logins; enable it only on a trusted network and disable it when finished. Git sync transfers cards and comments to the selected repository, so use private storage and keep secrets out of tasks. Agents update statuses; inspect the actual patch and task results before treating a completed card as finished work.
How to disable. Disable sharing with `kanzo share off`, stop the process and remove the MCP entry. Clean the board directory and remote repository separately.

How do I leave a shared board?
