What it does

FinanceMCP gives the agent a set of tools to query market data without hand-wiring APIs. One server covers stock and index quotes, funds, bonds, futures, currencies, macro statistics, financial news and crypto candles. The server picks a source based on the keys you pass and falls back to another on failure or rate limits, labeling the actual source in the reply. Technical indicators like MACD, RSI and BOLL are computed on an extended history window. It runs both locally over stdio and as a remote server over Streamable HTTP.

Who it is for. For analysts and developers who need market data access straight from an agent.

Good fit when

You need quotes, filings or macro indicators inside an agent chat
You need financial news and technical indicators for a ticker
You build a research pipeline across several markets at once

Not a fit when

You want investment advice or trades: the server only reads data, it does not replace analysis
You lack a Tushare or other provider key and public sources are not enough for the task

Limitations

Most data needs provider keys: a Tushare Token for core coverage, optionally Qveris and Twingly with their own limits and paid calls. The public hosted endpoint is currently down, so you run it locally or self-host. Providers are external: some sources are the Chinese Tushare and global Binance and Twingly, and their reachability from your network varies, so verify connectivity.

How to disable. Remove the finance-mcp block from your MCP client config. The npx cache clears via your package manager's normal tools.
