What it does
Stock SDK is a TypeScript library for stock quotes from the Chinese, Hong Kong and US markets plus public funds. It has a CLI and a built-in MCP server started with `npx stock-sdk mcp`. The server is dependency-free and does not use `@modelcontextprotocol/sdk`. By default the agent gets a core set of tools, and an environment variable opens the full set of 92. The tools return quotes, historical candles with indicators and name search. There is also fund-flow and sector data for the A-share market, and crossover signals. Seven ready scenarios as MCP prompts, including `analyze_stock`, `screen_stocks` and `diagnose_stock`, are switched on with `STOCK_SDK_MCP_PROMPTS`. The same package works from the CLI: `npx stock-sdk quote 600519 00700 AAPL` prints JSON, a table or CSV. Data comes from public Tencent Finance and Eastmoney interfaces, and a fallback source takes over when the main candle source fails.
Who it is for. For analysts and developers who want Chinese, Hong Kong and US stock quotes and candles in an agent without signing up with a data provider.
Good fit when
- You need quotes and daily or weekly candles for Chinese, Hong Kong and US stocks right in the agent
- You need MA and MACD indicators on candles without computing them yourself
- You need fund flows, sectors, large-order data or northbound flows for A-shares
- You need a quick terminal quote printout as JSON, table or CSV
Not a fit when
- You need data for high-frequency trading: quotes are delayed
- You need exchange trading and order execution: the package only returns data
- You need the Russian market: the sources cover only A-shares, Hong Kong, the US and Chinese funds
- You need options and futures beyond the support matrix: many entries are marked not implemented

Environment variables
STOCK_SDK_MCP_TOOLS- Tool set: core, full or a comma-separated list of names
STOCK_SDK_MCP_PROMPTS- Prompt scenario set: core, full or a list of names
Limitations
Data comes from public Tencent Finance and Eastmoney interfaces, with a delay of tens of seconds to several minutes. Market coverage is uneven: minute candles for funds and futures, dividends and fund flows are not available everywhere, and the support matrix is in the README. Documentation is mostly Chinese, with an English README. Version 2 breaks compatibility with version 1. The last commit in the repository dates from October 2026.
How to disable. Remove the `stock-sdk` entry from the client's MCP configuration and restart it. Running through `npx` leaves nothing in your project.
FAQ
How do I connect Stock SDK to Claude Code or Cursor?
Add an entry to `mcpServers` with the `npx` command and arguments `-y stock-sdk mcp`. No API keys are needed, and the server works after a client restart.
How many tools does the Stock SDK MCP server have?
There are 92 in total, but the `core` set is on by default. Set `STOCK_SDK_MCP_TOOLS=full` in the `env` block to get all of them.
How fresh is the data?
They lag by tens of seconds to several minutes, since quotes come from public interfaces.
Which markets does Stock SDK cover?
Chinese A-shares, Hong Kong and US stocks, plus public funds, futures and options with varying completeness.
Does Stock SDK have investment analysis scenarios?
Yes, seven prompt scenarios are built into the MCP, for example `analyze_stock` and `screen_stocks`, plus crossover signals. They analyze data and are not investment advice.

README in short
Version 2 brought API namespaces, a unified symbol model and a unified error system. Separate sections describe the CLI, the MCP server, signals, screening and backtesting, and request governance with retries and rate limits. A migration guide covers the move from version 1.
