What it does
Open SEO Advisor is a skill with a seo-advisor command-line utility for Codex, OpenCode and other agents that read SKILL.md. It works in two modes. In the first the agent leads from a request to a working site: a story split into scenes, GPT text and images, markup, checks and a choice of hosting (Cloudflare, Firebase Hosting or GCP Cloud Run). The repository holds two demos: a tea house story site with scroll animation and a one-page piece about a painted portrait with a visitor stamp. In the second mode the skill checks sites that already run: an SEO audit, technical fixes, content, ads and e-commerce analysis. The utility installs with python -m pip install -e ./scripts and makes an offline skeleton without an agent: seo-advisor website init --out ./my-site creates a static starter, a list of material prompts and deployment settings, and seo-advisor website check checks the technical baseline. The agent does the real GPT image generation, multi-page work, payments and deployment; the utility itself does not.
Who it is for. Small site owners and freelancers who ask an agent to check SEO or build a site from scratch and verify the result and the payment flow themselves.
Good fit when

Not a fit when
- You need guaranteed rankings or citations in AI answers: the author stresses that a built site does not mean indexing and the effect is checked after launch in Search Console
- You need a finished shop with payments: the demo cart takes no money and the payment flow is verified separately
- You expect a finished site from one command: the CLI creates only a skeleton and the agent does the rest
- There is no budget for image generation and a domain: they can cost money at the chosen services' rates

The project grew out of someone else's repository: it is a derivative version that keeps the original author and the Apache-2.0 license. The CLI creates an offline skeleton and checks the technical baseline, while the agent does the real GPT images, multi-page sites, payments and deployment. The demo sites are closed from indexing, and the author states separately that a new site by itself brings neither rankings nor citations in AI answers. Image generation, domains and payments can cost money at the chosen services' rates. The README and SKILL.md are in Traditional Chinese, and the CLI needs Python 3.10 or newer.
How to disable. Delete the open-seo-advisor folder from the skills directory (the project's .opencode/skills/ or ~/.codex/skills/) and restart the session. A utility installed with pip install -e is removed with pip uninstall.

How do I install Open SEO Advisor in OpenCode?
In the project folder run git clone https://github.com/mars-tw/open-seo-advisor-skill.git .opencode/skills/open-seo-advisor and start opencode. In Build mode ask it to load the open-seo-advisor skill. To keep it under version control with the site, the author suggests a ZIP install.
How do I connect the skill in Codex?
Put the whole folder into ~/.codex/skills/open-seo-advisor/, open a new session and call the skill as $open-seo-advisor with a request such as building a shop site on free hosting.
Does the utility work without an agent?
Partly. With Python 3.10 or newer seo-advisor website init creates an offline skeleton and website check checks its baseline. GPT images, multi-page work, payments and deployment are done by the agent separately.
Where can the built site be deployed?
To Cloudflare, Firebase Hosting or GCP Cloud Run. The author advises checking free quotas and billing terms with the services themselves.
Does the skill guarantee search rankings?
No. The author says outright that a built site does not mean indexing and that SEO impact is confirmed by Search Console data after launch. Citations in AI answers are recorded as an observation for a specific system and date, and reproducibility is not promised.
