What it does
Short-Drama Factory writes scripts for short vertical dramas for Douyin and the Hongguo platform. The input is one line with an idea or a web novel, and the output is episodes in one of three formats: standard at 60–100 episodes, long at 30–50, and animated drama. A paywall is built into the structure: the point after which the viewer pays to continue. The skill produces the script layer only: storyboards, assets and video are outside its scope. The plot is built on a chain of emotional contracts. A unit is a finished story block of up to 30 episodes: a conflict closes inside it, and the next one grows from the remains of the previous one. Paywalls sit at the seams between units. The skill carries 40 genre tracks, six hook archetypes, five cliffhanger formulas and a reversal wheel from A to I in which no three neighboring episodes repeat a type. Before the script, the agent prepares a character bible, a continuity ledger and a beat card for the first three episodes. Working modes load only the references they need, so the context does not bloat. The skill offers several commands: `/立项大纲`, `/全剧大纲`, `/分集规划`, `/写剧本 第N集`, `/剧本医生`, `/合规审核` and `/连写 N-M`. Quality is checked by two Python scripts: `validate_episode.py` with checks E1–E23 for an episode and `validate_series.py` with checks S1–S8 for the whole series.
Who it is for. For screenwriters and producers of vertical short series in Chinese who work for Douyin and Hongguo.
Good fit when
- You have one line of idea and need a series pitch of 60–100 episodes with paywall points placed
- A web novel has to become a series: the pipeline extracts the plot, trims it and maps chapters to episodes
- An episode needs a check on volume and running time: `validate_episode.py` flags episodes that are too thin or overloaded
- A series runs for many episodes and cross-episode details must not be lost: the continuity ledger tracks setups, characters, props and world rules
- Before delivery you need a check against platform rules: the `/合规审核` mode does that
Not a fit when
- You need storyboards, assets or video: the skill writes the script layer only
- You work in Russian or English: the references and templates are in Chinese, and the length norms are counted for Chinese text
- You need a feature script or a regular-length TV series: the skill is tuned to vertical episodes from 60 to 195 seconds
- You need a legal review of content: the compliance block describes the rules of Chinese platforms and regulators and cannot replace a lawyer

The description, commands and references are in Chinese. The length norms are calculated for Chinese characters: by the author's measurements every 15 seconds hold about 95 characters.
The compliance block reflects the rules of Chinese platforms and a regulator order in force since September 1, 2026. These rules do not fit other markets.

How to disable. Delete the short-drama-factory folder from the agent's skills directory. The scripts and ledgers you created in projects stay in place and can be deleted by hand.
FAQ
How do I install Short-Drama Factory?
Put the repository folder into your agent's skills directory and write 写短剧 or 立项： with an idea name in the chat. The author gives no separate install command. The check scripts run with the python command from the skill root.
Which episode formats does the skill support?
Three. Standard: 90–120 seconds and 480–850 characters per episode, 60, 80 or 100 episodes. Long: 150–195 seconds and 820–1400 characters, two conflict rounds and a mid-hook near second 90; 30, 40 or 50 episodes. Animated drama: 60–90 seconds and 330–620 characters.
What do E1–E23 and S1–S8 check?
E1–E23 concern a single episode: volume, cliffhanger, running-time conservation, the 15-second window up to 95 characters, action length, dialogue proportion and compliance red lines. S1–S8 check the ledger of the whole series, including the rotation of reversal types. Both scripts have a `--self-test` mode.
How does the long format differ from a stretched episode?
A long episode holds two rounds of confrontation in which pressure and reply each rise a step, plus a mid-hook near second 90. By volume it equals about two standard episodes, and acts, units and paywalls are recalculated for that.
How do I turn a web novel into a series?
The adaptation pipeline runs in steps: extracting the plot, trimming and merging plot lines, mapping chapters to episodes, splitting into conflict rounds and moving the result into the project materials. The steps are described in references/webnovel-adaptation.md.
