What it does
The skill extracts ten narrative techniques from one popular Chinese first-person essay and teaches the model to apply them to your material. The main rule is never to tell the reader what to feel. The model writes an action, names an object, sets a number and leaves a gap where the author does not know the answer. The techniques are plain description, a contrast of two facts with no comment, repetition with one break, setup and payoff, objects in place of retold feelings, imagery, time montage, omission, anticlimax and a return to the start. An extra technique is a change in how a person is addressed. Plain description is always on, the others depend on the material, and using all ten together is not intended. For nonfiction there is a separate rule: do not invent numbers. If the material has no exact figure, the model says it does not remember. The skill does not make up the sea, details or scenes that are missing from your notes.
Who it is for. For people who write personal stories, memoirs and essays in Chinese and want to strip ready-made emotional formulas out of the text.
Good fit when
- You want to turn an account of a real event into a restrained text that works on the reader afterwards
- A draft is overloaded with conclusions and feelings and half of the sentences should go
- You need a memoir, a profile or a family story with concrete scenes rather than a retelling of a mood
- You need a text about a startup, work or relationships where the facts can be checked
- You want to check whether the model slipped into a line like "at that moment I finally understood"
Not a fit when
- You need documentation, an API description, a weekly report or another explanatory text
- You have no narrative material and short lines would have to create literariness out of nothing
- You want to copy the original's plot, famous lines or the voice of a real person: the author excludes that use
- You need text in Russian or English: the rules and examples are written in Chinese and rest on Chinese prose
Example request
Use $sun-style-writing to rewrite my notes about the quarrel with my father as a restrained story: no explaining of feelings, only actions, numbers and objects.Limitations
The skill is written in Chinese and built for Chinese prose. It works with your material and adds no numbers, details or images that are not there. For texts without a narrative it is useless.
The author says the project is unrelated to the people in the source essay and does not speak for them, and the repository holds no full text of the original. The reference file keeps only short fragments for analysing the techniques.
The model can slip back into stock phrases at the most emotional spots, and the author asks for such cases together with the source material. Whether the install is reachable from Russia was not checked for this card.
How to disable. Delete the `~/.agents/skills/sun-style-writing/` folder or whichever skills folder you put it in. The explicit `$sun-style-writing` call will stop working after that.
FAQ
How do I install sun-style-writing in Claude Code or Codex?
Ask the agent to install the skill and give it the repository address. By hand, put the sun-style-writing folder into `~/.agents/skills/sun-style-writing/`, and the fallback is the .skill archive from the releases page.
How do I invoke the skill explicitly?
Name it in the request: "Use $sun-style-writing and turn this story into a restrained narrative". Plain words such as "remove the emotion, let objects and numbers speak" also work.
Which ten techniques does the skill have?
Plain description, contrast, repetition and variation, setup and payoff, object narration, imagery, montage, omission, anticlimax and a return to the start. A change of address counts as half a technique.
Does the skill invent numbers and details?
No. For nonfiction a rule says not to invent numbers: if the material has no exact figure, the model says so. Images such as the sea are also taken only from your material.
What is in the repository?
Three files: SKILL.md with the main method, `references/style-anatomy.md` with a breakdown of the techniques and a VERSION file with the version number.

README in short
The page is built around a comparison: an ordinary model writes about quitting a job with stock phrases, while the skill makes it write actions and objects. A table of techniques, three rules and sections on installing, use, repository contents and feedback follow.
