Why this level
- Requests go to the external paid Massive.com API with your key and spend your plan limit
- The server only reads data and trades nothing; computed greeks and returns are not investment advice
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/massive-com-mcp-serverDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
The server connects an agent to the Massive.com financial API. Instead of one tool per API method it offers three general ones. search_endpoints finds API methods and built-in functions from a natural-language description. call_api calls any REST API method and can store the result in an in-memory SQLite table. query_data runs SQL over those tables, with CTEs, window functions, SHOW TABLES and DESCRIBE supported. Built-in functions apply to query results through the apply parameter. They include Black-Scholes option prices and greeks (bs_price, bs_delta, bs_gamma, bs_theta, bs_vega, bs_rho), returns (simple_return, log_return, cumulative_return), Sharpe and Sortino ratios, and the moving averages sma and ema. The server builds its method list at startup from the llms.txt file of the Massive.com documentation, so new API methods appear in search without a package update. Coverage includes aggregates and trades for stocks, options, forex, crypto and futures, market snapshots, reference data, dividends and splits, fundamentals, news and analyst ratings, Treasury yields, inflation data and exchange schedules.
Who it is for. For analysts and developers who use Massive.com market data and want returns, greeks and moving averages computed on request to an agent.
Good fit when
- You need quotes and daily aggregates for stocks, options, forex or crypto without writing an API client
- You need a moving average, a return or a Sharpe ratio over loaded bars
- An options chain needs Black-Scholes prices and greeks
- Data from several calls has to be combined: results land in SQLite tables and the agent joins them with a query
- You need a list of dividends, splits and IPOs or the exchange and holiday schedule
Not a fit when
- You have no Massive.com key: all data comes through their API only
- You need trading and order placement: the server reads market data and trades nothing
- You need data from another source such as Yahoo Finance or TradingView: the catalog has separate servers
- You need a stable interface: the author warns that the project is experimental and breaking changes are possible
Example request
Take AAPL daily bars for three months, compute the 20-day moving average and show the days when the close was above itMCP

Environment variables
MASSIVE_API_KEYrequired, secret- Massive.com API key
MCP_TRANSPORT- Transport: stdio (default), sse or streamable-http
MASSIVE_MAX_TABLES- Maximum in-memory tables, 50 by default
MASSIVE_MAX_ROWS- Maximum rows per table, 50000 by default
Limitations
You need a Massive.com key (MASSIVE_API_KEY), Python 3.12 or newer and uv 0.4.0 or higher. The author marks the project as experimental: the interface may change without notice.
The server builds the method index at every start from the llms.txt file of the documentation, so startup needs network access. SQLite tables live in memory: by default at most 50 tables of 50,000 rows each, with the limits changed by MASSIVE_MAX_TABLES and MASSIVE_MAX_ROWS. Tables disappear when the server restarts.
Whether api.massive.com is reachable from Russia was not checked for this card.
How to disable. Run `claude mcp remove massive` or delete the massive entry from the client configuration. Remove the mcp_massive package installed through uv tool with uv itself. Reissue the key in the Massive.com dashboard if needed.
FAQ
How do I connect Massive.com to Claude Code?
Run uv tool install with the repository address and version v0.10.0, then claude mcp add massive -e MASSIVE_API_KEY=your_key -- mcp_massive. The install goes through uv tool because of Claude's 30-second connection timeout, which a cold uvx start could exceed.
Is there a hosted version that needs no installation?
Yes, Massive hosts this server at https://mcp.massive.com. Setup instructions for each client are collected in the AI Tools section of the Massive.com documentation.
Why only three tools for the whole API?
The server does not create a tool per method. search_endpoints finds the right method by description, call_api calls it, and query_data processes the result with a query. This set covers the whole API and shortens the tool list in the agent context.
What does the apply parameter do?
It applies a built-in function to the result of call_api or query_data. For example: sma computes a simple moving average, bs_delta an option delta under Black-Scholes, sharpe_ratio a Sharpe ratio. search_endpoints with scope=functions returns the full list.
What about the POLYGON_API_KEY variable?
It remains as a deprecated alias of MASSIVE_API_KEY. Use MASSIVE_API_KEY for new setups.

README in short
Installation is described for Claude Code and Claude Desktop, the latter needing the binary path from `which mcp_massive`. The default transport is stdio, switched to sse or streamable-http with the --transport flag or the MCP_TRANSPORT variable. For development there is running from source, debugging with MCP Inspector and linting with `just lint`. The privacy section: the server stores and caches nothing, and requests are proxied straight to the API.
