How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
stockscreen-mcp reads the published daily Stock Screener snapshot and serves agent queries. Users select a market, filter stocks, inspect one company and compare industry groups. Every tool is read-only. It uses the same data as the project’s public site. Results can be discussed in Claude Code, Cursor or Codex without deploying the full screening platform. Responses retain the underlying trading-session date.
Who it is for. Equity researchers building a shortlist of companies for further analysis from end-of-day data.
Good fit when
- After market close, you combine a preset screen with your own filters.
- Company research needs relative-strength comparison within its own market.
- A market review needs leading industries and breadth indicators.
- For a known ticker, you want to see which preset screens it passes.
Not a fit when
- The task requires live intraday quotes.
- You want this MCP connection to place trades.
- The requested market is absent from the published snapshot.

Limitations
Install uv first to provide the uvx command, then check that the MCP client can access it in its environment. Data reflects a completed trading session, so check each result’s date before comparing it. Relative-strength ratings rank stocks within their own market; equal ratings in different countries are not directly comparable. The first query downloads a market snapshot from GitHub Pages, so a new snapshot cannot load when that source is unreachable.
How to disable. Remove stockscreen from the client’s MCP configuration. The local process stops; it has no broker-account connection to revoke.
FAQ
Where does the answer date come from?
The `as_of_date` field identifies the latest completed trading session included in the publication.
Do I need a price-provider API key?
No. The MCP server reads data already published by the project.
Can I combine a preset with custom conditions?
Yes. Ask the agent to apply a preset, additional filters and a sort order.
Which industry rank is strongest?
Rank 1 is the strongest group. Ask for the comparison period and group members.
Which markets are available?
Ask for the markets in the current publication first. The response includes dates, status and available features for each.
