Broad access
Why this level
- The API key spends a paid balance, and a new key has no limits until you set them in the console
- Prompts, photos, video and audio go to the PopNow server, and a local file is uploaded automatically when passed as an argument
- The assembly skills run Python and Node.js scripts, Chrome and FFmpeg on your machine and write files into the project

What it does
PopNow Skills is the official PopNow plugin for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. The repository holds 13 skills for the PopNow API. Four basic ones cover generation: popnow-video makes clips from text and from photos and extends and upscales them (Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0, Wan 3.0, Vidu Q3, MiniMax H3), popnow-image creates and edits pictures and removes backgrounds (Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2), popnow-audio writes songs and instrumentals on Suno v6 and MiniMax Music 3.0, voices text and transcribes speech, and popnow-effects applies 143 ready-made effects to a photo. Before every paid run the script asks the API for the exact price. The agent tells you, waits for your yes and only then creates the task with the --confirm-credits flag: if the price went up, the task does not start. Finished files download to the ./popnow-output/ folder. The scripts are written in Python 3.8+ with no third-party dependencies and read the key from the POPNOW_API_KEY variable. Six skills assemble finished work on your machine. popnow-launch-film makes a 20–40 second product film from a site address or README, popnow-narrated-explainer prepares an explainer video with voiceover in 12 languages and captions, popnow-landing-page-from-mockup designs a landing page from mockups, popnow-social-cover-generator produces covers at exact sizes, popnow-brand-kit-design-md assembles a brand kit in a DESIGN.md file, and popnow-hyperframes-ai-assets prepares assets for HyperFrames videos. Code, editing and layout run locally, and PopNow is called for pictures, music and voiceover. Three more skills: popnow-skill-finder searches the PopNow catalog for free ready-made styles, popnow-api is the API reference, and popnow-media follows the new dollar billing scheme.
Who it is for. For developers, marketers and designers who want video, images and music straight from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor with control over spend.
Good fit when
- You want to turn a photo into a five-second clip with a slow push-in and see the price up front
- You need a 20–40 second product launch film from a site address or README, with post copy and a thumbnail
- You need covers for Open Graph, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and App Store at exact sizes with real HTML text
- You need background music, a jingle or a voiceover for a clip
- You need a brand kit with a palette, type and a DESIGN.md file that other agents follow
Not a fit when
- You cannot send photos, voices and texts to a third-party service: materials go to PopNow servers
- You need text or chat models: the PopNow API has no endpoints for them
- The agent runs without a shell, for example in a chat app: the skill scripts will not run, the PopNow MCP server fits better
- You need free generation: the skills are free, but every picture, clip and song is paid
Example request
Turn this photo into a five-second clip with a slow camera push-in, tell me the price in credits and wait for my approvalLimitations
A PopNow account and an API key from the console on popnow.ai are required. The skills are free, generations are paid. According to the developer, 1 credit costs $0.001, a five-second clip runs about 125–340 credits, a picture 10–50 and a song about 72. Credit packs are bought on the website, not through the API.
The billing scheme in the repository is moving to a new one. The popnow-media skill works with a separate prepaid API balance in dollars, and website credits do not pay for requests made with a key. The other skills and examples describe the earlier credit scheme and not all of them are migrated, so rely on the exact price from quote. The service is foreign, and the error reference describes code 40303: service not offered in this region. The assembly skills need Node.js 22+, FFmpeg and Chrome.
How to disable. Remove the plugin from the /plugin menu in Claude Code. If you installed through the skills CLI or ./setup, delete the popnow-* folders from the agent's skills folder. Remove POPNOW_API_KEY from the environment and revoke the key in the API console on popnow.ai, and delete the popnow entry from the configuration if you connected the MCP server.
FAQ
How do I install PopNow Skills in Claude Code?
Create a key in the API console on popnow.ai and set it with `export POPNOW_API_KEY="sk-popnow-..."`. Then run `/plugin marketplace add popnow-ai/popnow-skills` and `/plugin install popnow@popnow-skills`. The skills appear as `popnow:popnow-video`, `popnow:popnow-image` and so on, and update with `/plugin marketplace update popnow-skills`.
Which models are available through PopNow Skills?
The PopNow catalog includes Kling, Seedance, Wan, Vidu, MiniMax, Nano Banana, GPT Image, Flux, Qwen Image, Suno and Gemini TTS. The live list with prices comes from `python3 skills/popnow-api/scripts/popnow.py models --modality video --search kling`, and the filters narrow it by kind and name.
Can the agent spend money without my approval?
The instructions require quoting the price and waiting for a yes, and the script enforces it in code: `create` requires the `--confirm-credits` flag and does not start if the fresh price is above the stated amount. In the API console you set a daily limit and an allowed-models list for the key, and by default there are no restrictions. The protection works in the skill scripts: through the MCP server, tasks up to 300 credits start at once.
How do I connect the PopNow MCP server to Claude Code?
Run `claude mcp add --transport http popnow https://api.popnow.ai/mcp`. You can sign in with OAuth in the browser or with a key in the Authorization header. Tasks up to 300 credits start at once, and the server asks for confirmation on more expensive ones.
Do I need to install packages for the skills to work?
Not for the generation skills: their scripts use only the Python 3.8+ standard library. The assembly skills add Node.js 22+ and the local tools named in their SKILL.md, including Chrome, FFmpeg and HyperFrames through `npx`.

README in short
The description opens with a quick start: a key from the API console, installation through the plugin or the skills CLI, and a first request to the agent. Next come skill tables with typical prices, a five-step task flow, an install matrix for six agents, a section on the MCP server and answers to common questions.
