What it does
Claude Code WeChat Channel is an MCP server in the Claude Code channel format. You write in the ClawBot chat in WeChat, the message appears in the Claude Code terminal, and the agent's reply returns to the chat through the wechat_reply tool. The plugin uses the same ilink protocol as Tencent's openclaw-weixin package. It pulls incoming messages by long polling, sends replies with a separate call, and signs in by QR code, after which the server issues a token. Setup takes three steps: QR sign-in, writing the config to .mcp.json and launching Claude Code with the development channels flag. Besides setup and install, the package has start to run the server itself and help.
Who it is for. For Claude Code users who want to give the agent tasks and get answers in WeChat without sitting at the terminal.
Good fit when
- You need to message the agent from WeChat while away from your computer and get a reply in the same chat
- You already use ClawBot in WeChat and want to connect Claude Code to it
- You want a Claude Code channel with a dedicated tool for replying to a messenger
- You are studying the ilink protocol and want a working TypeScript example
Not a fit when
- You do not have an iPhone: ClawBot in WeChat is currently available only in the latest iOS version
- You need a stable production service: the project is a research preview
- Other people write to the ClawBot chat: any of their messages becomes agent input
Example request
When I write "build status" in WeChat, run the tests in the current project and send a short summary through wechat_replyMCP

Environment variables
ANTHROPIC_API_KEYsecret- Anthropic API key if you do not sign in to Claude Code with a claude.ai account.
Limitations
The channel is a research preview, so Claude Code loads it only with the development channels flag. It needs Node.js 18 or newer or Bun 1.0, Claude Code 2.1.80 or newer, and a claude.ai login or an Anthropic API key. The phone needs the latest WeChat for iOS with the ClawBot plugin. The channel lives only while the Claude Code session is open, and one ClawBot connects to a single agent instance. The latest changes in the repository date from March 2026.
How to disable. Stop the Claude Code session and remove the wechat entry from .mcp.json. To retire the token, also delete the sign-in data file.
FAQ
How do I connect WeChat to Claude Code?
Run `npx claude-code-wechat-channel setup` and scan the QR code in WeChat, then `npx claude-code-wechat-channel install` to create `.mcp.json` and start `claude --dangerously-load-development-channels server:wechat`.
Where is the sign-in token stored and how do I revoke it?
The token lives in ~/.claude/channels/wechat/account.json. Delete the file and the channel stops signing in to WeChat until you scan a QR code again.
How does message passing work?
The plugin pulls incoming messages by long polling `ilink/bot/getupdates` and sends replies through `ilink/bot/sendmessage`. To sign in it gets a Bearer token by QR code through `ilink/bot/get_bot_qrcode`.
Why is a flag with the word dangerously needed?
Claude Code loads research preview channels only with it. Outside messages enter the session with the agent's permissions, so use a separate WeChat account for the channel.
Can I connect several agents?
No. Each ClawBot connects to a single agent instance, and the link drops when the Claude Code session closes.
